Well Staffing must not be to "fat" cause in the past 3 days i have been called for a MBJ turn and well the DC9 doesnt go to Jamaica (news flash to scheduling, I'm not on the bus anymore) They said they are running short on Airbus FO's (Well they shouldnt have displaced me then ;)). And i have had my long call award converted to short call 2 days in a row now(per the contract) due to being "shortstaffed" (they like to call me at 1230am each night to present me with this gift btw). I'm pretty sure it will continue as well because the number of pilots isnt going up. I am beginning to see why they wanted to wait on BP5 till after the summer. The NWA side would be SOL if we were under the new staffing and contract rigs right now. Its not even summer yet

Lesson learned, when you get displaced make sure you change your temp card! I hosed myself by not fixing it and now i get to enjoy being abused on reserve for June! Beats the crap out of the unemployment line though ;)

Enough venting while half asleep, I'm glad to be here and will fly a kite as long as they continue to pay me!!

Back to bed i go.....

Interesting conversation with a 90 mechanic yesterday in CVG. Seems his boss has told them we are expecting 28 more 90s.

While I know, we've heard about the Hong Kong Phooey 90s for a while. Does this mean we've finally gotten the ink on the deal? Or are they just being proactive.

So CS calls you for a Bus trip and you have been converted to the -9??? Classic!!! I havent heard of that happening at DALS....but you never know. My new bride got the pleasure of an automated 430am offer for an inverse assignment. She wasn't pleased. I told her to get used to THAT.

What is a Temp card if you don't mind me asking?

Well, its not even the summer yet and I'm flying another 80+ hour month on the 800. Reserve coverage levels don't allow us to drop trips. If we're short-staffed, I'm not seeing it. Plus, the flights are FULL. What's the Puzzle Palace seeing that us line toads aren't?

Two things. Yield is falling faster than capacity. Second, forward sales are still way below normal. People are booking much closer to travel date at much lower fares. It's making market planning difficult.

Summer is always the busiest season (zero SILs offered), but you'll see us get real fat in September due to the announced schedule drawdown.

It's a monthly request you can make to go to a different base/cateogry. So, if you are a MSP DC-9 FO on reserve, you can put a request in to go to DTW or MEM as a Blockholder or Reserve.

It's a sweet deal because you get your hotels paid for and positive space passes to and from work. I'm not sure you even have to leave for the whole month.

The best story I've heard with a temp card is when a DTW based DC-10 s/o bid temp to HNL on reserve. If I remember his story corectly, he stayed out there the whole month in the layover hotel, and only got called to do an Osaka turn once. Aloha! :D

Thats exactly what happened. I got called for a turn outside of my callout time and when i looked online it was a turn to Montego Bay. Well the Diesel
-9 isnt going there anytime soon so i knew they crossed some wires somewhere.

NEWK explained the temp card pretty well. But its also for you to hold a temp block schedule in your own base also. In base guys have first rights to the temp block in their own bases. its a really good deal.

The "good deal monitor" will get a hold of it at DAL. Enjoy it while it lasts.

The mechanics just make that stuff up to mess with pilots. They probably have a bet going to see how long it takes the rumor to get back to them!

What, a mechanic may not have the whole story? We're only allowed to post fully verified and vetted information now??:D
