The AE, where is it? What is the word on the street???

Yeah, that's why I'm on this board - looking for some news. Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?

SWAP Board

I posted a trip drop on the SWAP board and it does not show up in the Open time section via I-crew. I am surprised because I had to check a block about allowing it to be posted.

Does it only show up on the E-crew board vice I-crew?

Thanks Scoop

Pilot to pilot swap board is a completely different animal from open time on E-crew/I-crew. It will show up there if you put in for it to be a personal drop, after the next PCS run. It will appear as a qualified (Q) trip. Somebody can pick it up, but not trade for it.

I thought they were going off the runway, but they managed to regain control. Looks like this 747 pilot realized his late flare and tried to fix it, but too late. I'm sure glad I've never done anything like that; not even twice! Ok, Ok, my third landing in the 88 was so hard that I think it may have changed the orbit of the earth. :o

I think I saw this in Die Hard 2 or something, probably somebody adjusted the ILS or something so that the airplanes would hit the ground rather than land.

When I was new on the 88 I had my best landings but then one day, I bounced. And I do mean bounced. Not bounced on the struts but the wheels on the ground, but God made me do it again. Luckily I haven't done it since but unfortunately for me one of the passengers gave me hell about it and smiled about it the whole time.

The passenger, I kid you not, SRQ-ATL and sitting in coach:

Gave me that look with sunglasses on. If I was quicker I could have said "Captain Kirk wouldn't have done that..."

But word to the wise you commuters, need to catch your commute out of ATL? Gate probably occupied? Desperate? Minimize your flare. Greasers are guaranteed to send you to the penalty block waiting for a gate until 20 minutes after you were due in and all the passengers get off mad and nobody says nice landing. Slam it in, gate's open, everyone gives you the evil eye. It's the funniest thing.

I haven’t really been keeping up on the so called 400 767 Advance Displacements you guys have been talking about and maybe someone has already covered it, , but I heard if it does happen, it’s merely the replacement of the last 767 Domestic category with the International like the rest of the bases. I also heard that the training department is concerned about doing it now because they are supposedly in the process of moving the NWA sims to ATL. Just a reminder to those possibly affected by the 767 Domestic category going away; remember this, when this category does go away, the advance entitlement vacancies for the ER category is open to everyone. It is not just a conversion. The Domestic 767 category will just go away. So just think of your displacement as if you are coming off the L-1011 or MD-11. Even if one is displaced from the 767 Domestic, doesn’t ensure a position on the ER. If one is near the plug, one should have some displacement preferences in. I’m pretty sure that’s what they told us when it happened in LAX and SLC. I’m sure that there will be some warnings posted by DAL regarding that issue if and when it happens.

Speaking as a SWA guy, from my occasional lurks on this thread, I maintain that NONE of you know what our contract is like! Honestly, when SWA comes up here, some of you sound like anthropologists studying a new indigenous culture that is very foreign to your own. It's quite entertaining...keep it up, please! :D

Well if ya'll wouldn't measure everything between DAL-HOU and treat CST/CDT like it's GMT, that might help. ;)

Couple of things. First, the guy does not support anything other than ALPA. Period. Second, it is not peeing on someone to point out that he called himself a DPA supporter, then later said he would reconsider supporting DPA in the very same post. That's called inconsistency.

Do we have to toe the Spackler line, or can we be dissenting supporters? Will we be tolerated if we disagree with you, or will we be harangued as "closet ALPAites?"

I've gotten these kinds of comments from the very beginning of the DPA thread. It goes something like this: "Hey Carl, I'm a fence sitter with the DPA but you really need to stop insulting ALPA or it might make me just support ALPA..." Then when you look at the guy's previous posts, you see he's a long time ALPA supporter with no intention of ever giving DPA a serious look. Do you see how nobody should take that kind of comment seriously? A deep ALPA supporter claiming to be a DPA fence sitter telling people to stop insulting ALPA? Even when you're no insulting ALPA, just posting FACTS about ALPA?

Whether you really are considering DPA or not is immaterial to me. I call things as I see them, and post the evidence to back up my claims. I would expect nothing less from you. Furthermore, if you post facts about DPA that showed it in a bad light, I would NEVER refer to your actions as "hurling insults" in an attempt to marginalize what you posted. Instead, I would look at your facts and see if I needed to re-evaluate my support of DPA. That's the way I run my show. You run yours the way you wish.

You should be a DPA supporter because ALPA can't represent everyone's interests all if the time. The mainline guys want different things than the RJ guys, and there are more RJ guys at ALPA overall probably. Conflict of interest. Also, ALPA has really been managing expectations for this upcoming contract, even though we all know about the huge profits (via bag fees especially) and that we're still on a hugely concessionary contract. They said during the last one, the joint contract, that we would get a lot more this time due to the $2 billion or so extra dollars thanks to the added "synergies" from the merger........ I'm waiting.....this had better be a great TA. No pressure!

Smear campaign by DALPA? What the hell is DPA doing???

Putting out documentary evidence of what ALPA has done to TWA pilots, their own in-house union, and sanctions against ALPA attorneys is NOT a smear campaign. It is the disclosure of fact. Would you rather not know these things about your current union?
