Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

Here's a question for "MadDog Mushers": What's the real reason that the Aux pump switch has an OVRD position?

"Well, that's what we put in the book, but the fact is that we had a lot of those switches left over from the DC-8 program, so we had to come up with some function for that third switch position on the DC-9 series."
+1 - if Obamacare makes it through we have no guarantees (unless it's in the contract) of DAL dumping us on the exchanges. While our health plan isn't currently the greatest it's better than some and at least we have choices that aren't exorbitantly priced.
Only if they can post it will 800-900 training events. If it is way over that, they will probably wait until Friday or the next week to post it. They are in no rush, they expect training to start off of this bid in Jan. If they can stop a waterfall effect by retaining a few in a couple different seats, they will do that want wait on publishing the results.
Are you scared?
Of an easy airplane that 1700 Delta pilots fly just fine?
Oh wait, AE still open... yes, death trap for sure. Just let the pilot group know it'll make them sterile. Unless they are with their mistress. Which you'll never have as an MD-88 pilot. You don't have time between having to make up for your 65 hour lines or plethora of short calls, 23K flying and short overnights.
Death trap.
The MD-88.

Typical ... Some 747 jocks are sitting around a bar in Narita when someone says ... "hey, did ya hear Memphis clowsed" ... "oh Jeez o' pete" ... "ya betcha" ... then they all called to complain that they were given no notice about the base closure and they were in Asia ... not that this has anything to do with what 747 pilots bid, but the Company decided to give extra time so they can release the displacements over the Thanksgiving Holiday when there is no one around to complain to.
It is kind of "bi winning" thing ... win here, win there.

My explanation as to how the bid window got expanded remains the same, or at least that's the story among the bottom management types.
In the past Delta has carried a few extra in category over and no displaced as many as initially published. ACL tells me it is unlikely in this bid, but we can always hope.
... and once again, folks down at my juniority are talking about going elsewhere. Last time Delta held a few back in category and it turned out to be mostly talk.
