And its only about 10 degrees colder than Minneapolis on average, but no worries, there's no trees or hills up there to block the wind. So with the wind always about 30 mph, the wind chill is often -40, but you will have fabulous views of miles and miles of flat brown dirt. And you only have to drive around 50 miles or so (depending on where you live) to a decent shopping mall or restaurant, of course that's only on the days the blowing snow and ice covered roads aren't so bad you can actually leave the house.

I lived there for 4 years, I can honestly say I think it is the worst place to live in the continental US. I would walk to class and the wind was so strong into my face that my eyes (the only thing uncovered) would water and then freeze onto my face. I would literally (I swear I'm not exaggerating) pluck ice tears off my cheeks.

hahaha I can't help but laugh when I hear this. Reminds me of when I was a little kid. I used to live north of Edmonton. I'd spit on my sister and it would freeze before hitting her. You could throw a cup of hot chocolate in the air and it would freeze before hitting the ground.

The lake by my house froze well enough that the fire department would come out and clear it........with a bulldozer. Then they would drive the water truck out there and spray the lake to smooth the cracks. We had to have smooth ice to play hockey!!! Too bad the Oilers suck now. It was fun to watch Gretzky play in the Northlands Coliseum.

Northern Alberta is printing money with oil, just like North Dakota. Last time the furlough rumors started up I was looking into heading back North. I would've doubled what I was making at Delta.

When my wife found out we were merging with Northwest she was all giddy with joy. She thought we'd be moving near her family in Michigan. I told her she could move anywhere that a palm tree won't die in the winter. Only money, lots and lots of money, would ever make me move North.

(btw, my sago palms are covered tonight cuz its butt a$$ cold here in Georgia. I need to move further south)

Minnesota Is Home To 20 Fortune 500 Companies
Posted on May 6, 2011 3:08 pm by edliston

Minnesota VikingCompanies who receive the honor of being named one of the top companies in the world are generally placed on an exclusive list. Those companies, who have continued to succeed and build their overall revenue, are considered for the Fortune 500 list. The list currently consists of some of the largest companies globally and each year new corporations are added, while others drop off the list. For corporations, this is an honor as this helps them increase their brand awareness, with minimal advertising. Companies who take the top ten positions on the list are the key players in the market, and based on the current market trend, many of these companies are either involved in telecom or the internet. Regardless of the company’s specialty, it is an honor to be a part of the list and it is just as great an honor for those who work for these companies. This year the list has just been released and it seems that the most fortune 500 companies per state, measured against their capita is Minnesota. The state boasts some of the largest retailers and though most people link the state with the mega department store Target, there are many other companies which are large and throughout the country. Target currently operates throughout the United States and Canada, along with other major corporations in the state including UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE:UNH). UnitedHealth has actually topped the list with over $95 billion dollars in revenue. The state continues to emerge and currently they stand as the number 4 state in the list of fortune 500 companies, tying with New Jersey.
Other states which have a larger concentration of fortune 500 companies than Minnesota include New York, Texas and California. Some of the largest and most well known companies operate from these states and are located throughout the world. They are known to bring in the highest overall revenues and hire the largest workforce. However this year it seems that Minnesota has one less company compared to last year, but regardless of the dropout, they have maintained their position. Minnesota has been able to maintain their position due to the number of fortune 500 companies compared to the states entire population. This is certainly an honor for the state and something they can add to their list of achievements. In addition to corporations, the State of Minnesota is also known for providing the country with some of the most well known entertainers.

I'll give the steak salad a whirl next time, seem like whenever I've ordered food from there it's always taken way longer than it should and not been anything to write home about.
Furthermore, I have yet to be greeted with a free beer, if that changes in the future I will revise my review, but as it stands now I give the place two enthusiastic ATL senior A-line thumbs down.

Don't feel bad Ferd. I'm leaving the Baby Bus in DTW for the 7er in NYC. And I'll be on reserve!!! Four DCI large RJ's a day, & twice as long of a flight. And my wife is 37 weeks pregnant so I haven't been drinking much the last 8 months. It was a sober decision! Who's the moron now?
