DAL and LCC get the money.

Any idea what the finally breakdown will come to?

I figure LCC will get more money since they divested more slots, but I've been curious if we were entitled to the proceeds from the auction, and if so, how much money would we get.

Don't worry. You're junior to me and I can't hold that trip. For you I see 0500 LGA sign ins for a 4 day that ends at 2230 on day four.

Ok. That's good to know. Good thing I'm a morning person. :D

1. Its not like Jet Blue wants a type on the 320 to get hired.

2. Who cares. Are you going to fly this airplane your career at Delta. Get over it and worry about something that matters.

WTH would I care about JB? And I'm not worried about it. Guess the :D didn't convey that I was being sarcastic.

1) will be paid and credited the greater of (or at his option, on a bid period to bid
period basis, either of):
a) rotations removed during periods of continuous training to:
i. accommodate travel between his base and his training location when such training is conducted away from his base, and/or
ii. accommodate such training, and/or
iii. eliminate an FAR or PWA conflict that arises because of such training, or
b) pro rata portion of the ALV at the rate of the highest paying aircraft model
shown on his line for each training day.

b. A reserve pilot or an unassigned pilot, while assigned to qualification training, will be
paid and credited a pro rata portion of the ALV for each training day, including
training days on which his schedule shows “OFF” (not scheduled to attend training), at the rate of the highest paying aircraft model shown on his line or if he has not flown during the bid period, the rate used to establish his reserve guarantee or unassigned pilot guarantee

There is more in the contract about white slipping etc. if you are a regular line holder while in training but you get the gist with the above....if you are in training for the entire month, you should get a minimum of the ALV.

Denny

Thanks Denny,
I guess it doesn't matter if I bid for Jan in old equipment then...(I start Jan 1). I'll probably get a rsv line anyways.

this reserve gig isnt too bad, all the line holders are picking up all the open time. I guess with lower line values these guys just pick up everything they can. I'm ok with them being strapped enough that they are willing to give up days off and allow me to stay home :)

Does that pass muster with your own hiring board? If so, great - I can log all my legs after my downgrade as PIC - but I'm thinking they don't see it that way.

You're correct - they don't. Not really sure many hiring boards would either. I think PIC = guy who signs the release. JMHO.

Sim instructors,

Does Delta use line pilots for sim instructors or do they hire off the street for the school house? I've looked on the Delta.com site and did not see a link for sim instructors.

Thanks,

Marty!!!

Some line pilots, but the bulk (from what I've seen - 90% or so) are retired DL pilots working for DGS. Never seen a guy hired off the street.

2nd question..the slot swap fetched a pretty penny..Does Delta and US Airways get this $$ or does the gov't?

I would think Delta would lease these "birds" back to GOL. Then GOL will use their lower paid employees/pilots to fly some joint routes.

I cant seem to get the exact figures but Gol pilots do not make a lot of money and they work a whole lot more than their US counterparts.

We have some "ground" instructors that were hired off the street about five years ago. They are DGS, and can teach the 100's and 200's.

No, they do and have for some time. It was pilots that interviewed with the 737 type, and no time in it, who said they had no interest in SWA that made them scratch their heads.

They asked me about the type with no time. I was a straight shooter. Told them I interviewed with SWA in early '05 when Delta had tons of pilots on the street. Got turned down. Hence... 737 type with no time. Ended up being a waste of money.
