Short Call

Is there some kind of airline meltdown going to happen tomorrow? I'm asking because, I am trying to figure out why crew scheduling has assigned 7 short calls out 11 guys on reserve for tomorrow in my category. They only require 2 and the next open trip is on Dec 22? Maybe they are just trying to make sure we all get five before the end of the month.......

Back to the WOW: Maybe I should clarify. I think a lot of the DC-9 guys/gals I fly with are just like everyone else -- waiting for the big one.

Please don't think I am complaining either. I've had my WOW and I hope to be done for a while. But, I must point out that the -9 is a great airplane.

Go Saints! :D

I'll be rooting for the Saints as well, only because I hate the Giants!

And about the DC 9, I liked it when I flew it, 1984-85, but that was 27 years ago, and they were OLD then! Still it was a lot of fun to fly and it never tried to kill you.

When I checked out in the MD 88, (1992) I said, "Just let me fly it in raw data, like a DC 9, at least then I know whats working and what's not!" (this was when the 88's had no IRU's, just that crappy AHRS system wich would always lead to a Map Fail while shooting a VOR app. below about 3,000') How the FAA ever allowed that thing to be certified is beyond me, but like they say, Boeing builds Airplanes, McDonald Douglas builds Character!

No they won't. The vast majority of us can't get max pay plus stipends plus expenses, plus, plus.

What incentive do any of them have to put out a crappy product?

The incentive is keeping MANAGEMENT happy since that's where their bread is buttered.

Would you put out a knowingly subpar TA if you were on the NC?

With this "union", the answer is YES. Because that's what management wants. You know, constructive engagement and all.

If the answer is H#LL NO, then why do you think the guys on the NC would screw themselves with a bad deal?

Because they won't be screwing themselves. They don't live under the same deal we live under.

Possible snow in ATL tomarrow morning. We all know how great ATL is at deicing, so yes, meltdown may be a good adjective.

Simple: Because I don't believe ALPA is the only possible source of success. The fact that you would ask this question seems to presuppose that ALPA is the venue for success. Many of us disagree.

Now here's a question for you: What on God's green Earth makes you think that ALPA will shoot for getting Delta pilots the industry's leading contract given their history?

Why would that matter? What effect does an LEC rep have on the unelected MEC permanent bureaucracy?

I am pretty sure its their payrates coupled with their work rules that get them their w-2s.

I would like our management to be more like SW, but I want SWAPA's contract. Especially their scope. You're OK working for a management team that outsources us to the maximum extent possible, but many of us are not.

HA! I didn't know that ATL even had de-ice trucks. I am sure that will be a cluster *******. Real snow or just flurries?
