VG = Vortex Generator, an option on the newer -800 series

She looks uglier here than in orange/purple...

And just what are they supposed to do?

Talk is cheap... From Lee sitting in my jumpseat in '05 explain the line in the sand for 70 seaters. With 2000 pilots in North Atlanta and the MEC drawing the scope line in the sand. How about the LAX LEC reps telling the rank and file that the Code Share Section of the JC with Alaska would only be on the PDX & SEA routes to LAX. Now ask the LAX 73 boys what really happend. ALPA is not building much trust in our group.

I've flown with several ALPA people (Officers) lately, feeling me out for the possibility of us not seeing the openers. I told them that they should be careful, because there's a restlessness in this pilot group. It's a long way between opners and a TA, so they better put some thought into how they will deal with sending no information to our group.
We want to stay informed, but where the rubber hits the road is in the actions of ALPA..... We are watching.

Sounds like the contract survey will not be published, but the pilot group has a good idea of the results, I'm sure managment does as well. 2-4 % will not be seen as action with our group. It will be seen as a couple of numbers fluffed up with words to get us to buy off on them.

2-4% will result in the demise of ALPA as a representation organization fro the Delta Pilots...

They reduce streamline drag by minimizing the amount of airflow that hits the windshields.

Is the cockpit then quieter as a result?

Lift at extreme angles of attack!

From my understanding, they energize the boundary layer of air ahead of the windscreens allowing for the layer to separate further behind the pilots or (and what I think), they break up the laminar airflow before the windscreens reducing the sheer (the rumble) you normally hear above your head.

Exactly. Half a decade after Delta emerging from bankruptcy, we have essentially made zero progress from the buying power of our bankruptcy/emergency pay. And published inflation rates may be lower than what the average person experiences in the real world... so our buying power may be actually WORSE than it was during the extreme emergency in bankruptcy.

Not feeling very respected OR well represented.

We are starting to see action on the 170-190 seat RFP from 2011 with a aircraft order for the 737-900. Also hearing rumors about the NEO Airbus.

Nothing on the RFP on the 100-120 seat replacement aircraft. Is this because management cannot find a suitable airfrme, or is it the this catagory of aircraft will make a highly effective bargaining tool? Allowing managemnt to keep our mainline rates lower with the promise of the aircraft coming on the property, or converesly, higher rates toward the top as long as the aircraft are flown by Delta sub-contractors? I already know which way I will vote in each scenario.

noticeably! I hope Delta keeps paying extra for this option. That and fuel pumps that don't explode at the gate if you leave them on.
