Why? Using the numbers above, if we have 100 737-900ER's coming, and 40 757's retiring, I can stomach that. Can't you?
I'm not saying I know how the trade will unfold, but using the numbers in the post you were responding to, I wouldn't shed a tear over a transaction that yields 60 new mainline airframes. |

Pat yourselves on the back boys, that $1.2 Billion is just about what we gave up in our pay cuts to "...keep Delta (and NW) out of bankruptcy'...
Almost. But not quite enough to cover all we gave up. Good news, after your 42% pay contribution, every year, for the past 8 years...you'll get a whopping 4.5% back in Profit Sharing, so you got that going for you. Timbo, Thanks. I hope we all remember this when when the company so graciously issues those profit sharing checks next month. I am happy to get one, but, context is everything. Regards |

I also agree change and transparency need to continue to win the day at ALPA.
I COMPLETELY agree with you on this, though I would omit the words "continue to" as they imply that there is progress in these areas. But (and Slow, Sailing, Alfa, etc please feel free to comment...) DALPA, despite their claims to the contrary, isn't getting the message. Or perhaps they have received the message but are choosing to ignore it. As a recent example of this I need only point to the whole FPL "cover up". Absolutely shameful and indefensible performance by DALPA. Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong... |

It's not 60 new frames. We're retiring some A320's & some domestic 767's too. I believe it's 85 retirements so 15 additional frames. I'm guessing the A320's on operating leases are the ones to go.
Don't forget the DC9s... |

Those are the first round of aircraft leases they are refusing. There will be more.
I'll believe it when I see it in writing. Until then, it is just talk and rumor. Nothing more. |
ACL for jobs perspective vis-a-vis any airlines jobs base:
Just for the International Tom Bradley West expansion at LAX, 1 terminal out of 8, LAWA is quoting 40,000 local jobs, no taxpayer money. LAneXt With stats like that you probably will agree that any one airlines jobs are politically expedient, especially if they are partially picked up by new entrants or expansion by other airlines.
