Uh, no. If it takes 30 hours, then that's what we should get paid.

You two have just described the entire grievance process at DALPA.

Totally agree.........and why are we paid 1 for 3 academics? If the run time says it takes XX hours, pay me XX hours.

I talked to an A330 instructor when I was doing the runtime test and was told that they ALSO took 4 academic classes/fixed based sims out of the course when we went to this home study. WE are saving them a boatload!

There are some SLI's around on this board and probably others who know whether or not this is accurate but the number I heard was they save either 70 or 80% in training costs going to at home study and that includes running the multi million dollar plus simulators.

They said that after studying it that in a given 8 hour school house day only 3 hours of instruction occurred. I can see that. Now in an 8 hour at home study day there is 8 hours of instruction. Except for when you're doing world wide ops and you're bored to tears on something that technically shouldn't be boring.

Yup, slugg'en through the LOD with the VOL II Controls and indicators section on the o'l iPad. Slow going but I also got the "what's it doing now" game in the LMS working and that is helping.

I'll be ready, but the company's position that the memory stick course is enough to pass the test is BS.

FWIW, when I was hired we had instructors that kept telling us over and over that everyone does well on the LOD (to the 767) but people keep failing the simplest and smallest section - communication.

Turns out there was a reason for that. There were some instructors telling the class, including mine, that if you see the same question twice then you missed it the first time so don't give the same answer. Well in communication the section is so small the computer ends up generating the question multiple times. Sometimes 4 times in a row. Well if you believed your instructor you'd given 4 different answers. As far as I know that got fixed pretty quick and the instructors were informed that they were incorrect- but not before my class was doing the test.

But to be honest, I prefer this type of system. I don't like to go to class at 8am, I like 6pm-1am and I like to pick my subjects. I also like having the LOD and no fluff. I also like the quality control you get from a CD instead of drawing "that guy" as your instructor or having a classmate that won't hush.

I just don't like studying for one plane while flying another and I sure would like to get paid more to do it. But disclaimer, I'd just like to get paid more no matter what.

A buddy of mine had a good point about the downtown layover stuff, our new rule should be that we are in a college town. DTW overnight? Hello Ann Arbor. CHS? Same place. DCA? Same place. And so on.

But the premise is the food is cheaper, there are more bars for you drunkards and everything is open later. The down side, if you stare too long then people are going to recognize you as the dirty pilots in the concourse that also stare too long. ;) :D

Is it a DH to/from training? If so, take a look at LOA 29.

Looks like the CG might be a little aft, but I could live with that.

Did one of your triplets explode in a suicide poo bomb attempt or something?

All three of them discovered the joy of removing each others diapers and acting like a bunch of poo flinging monkeys. Duct tape took care of that problem, until they learned the dexterity and hand strength required to overcome the duct tape. Stronger deterrence was required until they were potty trained.

Bingo. And block time for travel to/from training, too.

Where is DALPA on this? Collecting FPL and preloaded debit cards to wine and dine one another?
