I agree. I've always heard that the downtown thing is for the senior international guys. Domestically, I don't think its that big a deal and, in fact, is oftentimes a pain in the ass. See an NYC layover at the dumpy downtown place when you land at JFK at 5:00 PM on a Friday and have 12 hours. Two hours later, you get to the dumpy downtown hotel.

Our best domestic downtown is BOS.

There are some int'l layovers that going downtown is worse, or at least no more beneficial, than staying near(er) to the airport. Sometimes it depends on your layover plans, sometimes the length of the van ride, sometimes there is plenty of stuff to do nearer the airport.

I wonder if that is part of the script.

Blue's City BBQ is where it's at!

I know there are a lot of personal preferences and different ideas when it comes to BBQ. I didn't care for Blue's City BBQ's BBQ. But they have a sign up in there that says, "world's best tamales." At the suggestion of the guy I was flying with, I tried those tamales. I think their sign might be right!!! :D

Blue's City is def my favorite with Corky's coming in second- that and the yummy red potatoes. Not a fan of rendevous.

And by the way, your new Avatar is perfect. :)

If its the same one in the last 6 months, the Flying Saucer is well within stumbling distance.

As far as mainline upgrades, OMA and TUL are getting some fifi action from ATL in January. I'm ok with that trend!

I hope we have a decent place to stay for 30 hours, because that's what they are.

At least you know what team he plays for:

From his bio.....

Prior to accepting his research position at MIT, Swelbar spent 25 years in the consulting world with a focus on airline labor cost restructuring, regulatory issues governing air transport, communication strategy and support, and air service development on behalf of airports and communities.

Hey,

Slow and Alfa, if your gig at DALPA evaporates, maybe he can fit you guys in over at his head shed.
