I didn't think we had as many commuters as we do. I was surprised by those numbers in the survey.

On an different topic, anybody want to start a heating and cooling business with me? My heat went out last night. Temp sensor broke. Had it fixed this morning. Took the guy less then five minutes to change the part. Heat works again.
THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS for the repair. And that included a 15% discount, & no fee for the service call since we have a plan. $300 for 10 minutes. Unreal. |

That's insane!! Google and a trip to Home Depot probably could have saved you a lot of money. Bummer. At least your heat is working again, plus you're supporting your local business. :)

Had that happen with a dryer about 10 years ago. Dude from Houston showed up and spent 15 minutes and charged me $250. The part was a $12 part.

I know. But it was 0530 and I was half asleep. Not much sleep the last two weeks taking care of momma(unplanned c-section), our 2 yr old daughter, & 2 week old son. With all the sleep I'm lacking, I didn't think I should be playing with a gas appliance! :D
I;m sorry I missed the announcement. CONGRATULATIONS on you brand new baby BOY! :D:D |

I had a similar thing happen - my furnace broke, I did a bit of trouble-shooting and saw a burned out resistor on the PC board of the control unit. yeah, I could of figured out where to get a replacement board, ordered it and repaired it, but that's at least a day or two, with momma at home with no heat. Yeah. She'd like that. Called the repair man and it was fixed a lot faster. |

With your 2 week old son, fixing your furnace yourself in wintertime should be the last of your concerns!

That's the other thing. We have an older home, & by the time I was able to call the repairman it had dropped to 58 degrees in our home! No time to waste with a newborn in the house. Fortunately it was less then 2 hours from the call to our heat working again.
