I should be sailing today, but I've got to take the wife to SRQ for a flight to the ATL to pick up the twins from the AU, so I'll be single tonight. Too bad there's not a game on!

You should get out there today, looks like good wind from the south east.

Yes, it was after that, but when, sometime around 46? Just maybe:rolleyes:

I like what you said. Thing is, will alpa national go along with that? They may be unhappy, but again, who gives a rats's a$$.

The Jan 1-4 days will apply to your RAW score for Jan (how the hell skeds figures out a raw score is a mystery). Since Jan 4th was a "X" day, call crew skeds and the two of you determine when you get it back. Or, they may have already placed it on your schedule.

I agree, but what it does is allows the differences between pilots to be dealt with away from the bargaining table with the company.

I disagree with this or that with ALPA, but it does not mean that I will sue them.

National generally gets to deal with these issues, and it allows the MEC to deal with pilot issues. Just think of the assessments you would get if we were an independent and had some of these large DFR lawsuits. Have to pay for them somehow, and with a National structure with lawyers on the payroll, insurance for the settlements etc, it is all part of the existing dues structure. If you were an independent, the pockets are not that deep for the amount of legal help that would be required.

I have to throw the BS flag here. If we were an independent union, there would be much less chance of a DFR lawsuit because everyone involved in the union would only be gunning for one group and they would care about any other groups interest. The threat of large assesments due to DFR is NOT a reason that we should be ALPA.

Don't those same lawyers get paid by Air Wisconsin, Eagle, ASA, Comair, Compass, Pinnacle, Trans States, Freedom, etc.

As an aside, how is IFALPA going to play into this discussion in the future. What about a conflict of interest regarding open skies.

NERD, they'll slide your X-days later in the month to where they'll fit. If you want them applied to specific days, call scheduling and tell them which days you want. Your RAW score will reflect your flying Jan 1-4.

If is right, but there's another angle at play as well. What if it wasn't ALPA but the courts (with or without the blessings of ALPA National) that held our contract hostage? Courts are in the business of letting just about anything into the system and it routinely takes years to sort anything out. So we put forth scope recapture and ALPA DCI groups press for an injunction and now we're into the convoluted language of the Scope Subcommittees and Policy Manual scope guidelines and all of that and we have to educate various levels of the court system each time as it makes it way up so our contract (raises, work rule improvements and of course better scope) is either delayed or the insane monetary claims start to rack up like the 1.4 Billion dollar TWA fantasy payment they think we are all going to pony up 25,000 bucks each to pay them. But either way it takes years and tens of millions in legal fees.

That's why I think LM will do everything in his power to insure that scope recapture at the DCI level doesn't occur at any significant enforceable level, and honestly probably Alaska scope as well. Pressure will be put on "our" lawyers not to "go there" and it will require an extremely united and defiant front to force the issue, possibly even so motivated as to delay raises and C2012. And of course if the TA doesn't contain significant scope recapture at all levels, we will, 100%, be told to vote for it or we will be threatened with the NC quitting, starting over or we will be parked for 5 years, etc.
