Not to mention that if you were to post the type of things seen here about your employer or even make statements remotely critical about the company or their policies you arrive back at your home base to find your work visa revoked and a company rep standing their with a ticket out of the country. You don't even get to go home and pack your personal items up. Your out that minute.

I was just assigned a trip for tomorrow.
I'm on reserve. The CA is receiving SAQ training. Do I fly my normal FO position & The airport qual guy rides in the Jumpseat or will I get cut loose at sign-in? If I get released am I free & clear for the three days of reserve availability?

For the segment that the AQFO rides along on, you have to be at the gate, in uniform, and they CAN cut you loose. This works well if it is an out and back. you still need to show for the rest of the trip, or if the AQFO is only going for one leg, you still have to go.

Does the CA have to be with the AQFO for an arrival & departure? If not
I bet I get to ride along, layover & fly the redeye home and the AQFO deadheads back to the ATL.

If you've never been to the SAQ airport before then you have to go. If you have been there before, ask the LCA or AQFO nicely if you can go home.

I was always very eager to release the FO if they had been there before as it was much nicer for me to be able to do the leg from a pilot seat than from the jumpseat. It is an entry and an exit checkout. Sometimes it didn't work out that great for the FO to go home if it was out of base... sometimes it did.

Any SA on how many vacancies to 73n categories based on their comment about pending 737-900 deliveries?

I'm guessing zero. Probably plenty of MDs from the 767 and 7ER though.

Figure 11 to 12 pilots per jet for staffing. As others have written, these may be covered by displacements and there are allegedly some efficiencies to be found by creating a new 73N base in Detroit. If company can transfer the cost of hotel rooms to junior pilots, they will.

With a small edit, there is scant difference from my job after the next displacement from Atlanta.
