That sounds very plausible

IMHO the AMR SA route network is their crown jewels.
I'm sure DAL will go toe to toe with AMR out of MIA.

Cheers

I too suspect we will grow out of MIA. Maybe smaller gauge like 757's to start ,but there is a strong market there. Just look at our MIA-LHR flight. It is such a success that they pulled some RJ feed off of MIA.

Could this rumor just make it more difficult for AMR to reorganize?
Even though Delta has no intention of actually buying AMR, the creditors now think their paper is worth a lot more than it was yesterday.
AMR was counting on those guys taking pennies on the dollar. Now they're gonna want dimes and quarters.

Maybe Anderson will tell the MEC his true intentions in "closed session".

The creditors were not going to take pennies on the dollar and that is one of a few of AMR's problems.

Is it wise for our MEC to have these "closed sessions" with RA and others?

I think not.
The confidentiality agreements are a tool management uses to manipulate our reps.

Sailing, no one wants to be blindsided. Unfortunately, the only ones who will be in the "know" aren't currently in our circle of trust.

NDAs are great from a company perspective but how do we, the membership find out? It'll be after an LOA is signed and we'll be told to trust them, it was the best deal they could get.

Before you think I'm bashing ALPA, I do that frequently, but I have also applauded a lot of the recent gains.

Update 12-02 LOA 29 Implementation - Seniority on Reserve

Very good update just posted on new Reserve Utilization Order guidelines and Raw Score Buckets. Two real positive changes are:
  • Specific trip preferences for Yellow Slips, to be awarded by seniority
  • Short Call is now credited towards raw score
Good job to the MEC Scheduling Comm.

I agree as well. If you're on reserve and see a trip you'd like to fly I think you should be able to YS for it. Cheers MES sched committee

I didn't realize until reading the recent update that there are only 3 reserve raw score categories. I thought it was going to be grouped in 10-20 point categories. Since it starts with 1-80, and in my category, people don't go over 80 very much, I think the senior reserves will have a LOT of time off if they want it. I'm not sure if I will like it or not, but I definitely like that a 1 point difference doesn't trump seniority, and I also definitely like that it will be easier to YS now.

Yeah I rarely see over 80 in my category except in the summer. This gives the power to a senior res person to YS a trip that they see in Open time, which I think is awesome. Finally gives seniority a little say in the reserve system, not that I'm senior but gives me something to look forward to

While on an FCF awhile back I overheard an interesting tidbit. Something about used 737-800's were picking up at a good price. The kicker was we were flying them straight to the desert to be used when the economy picks up. Has anyone else heard this?

Maybe they were pulling my chain to see if what they said ended up on APC.

I think well be hit up once again to write letters on behalf of Delta to get a deal approved...

How many letters have you sent and how did it work out for you?

I think it's working out great.

Delta is going to pay profit sharing this year. Final numbers will be announced January 25, but preliminary shows 4.5% of your salary from 2011.

The slot swap should increase Delta's revenues by $200 million. While the initial number of mainline flights was disappointing I think we're far better off long term having those slots rather than LUV, jetBlue or another competitor having them. If you'd like to return them let me know how that works out for you.

Oh, Delta pilot compensation increased another $100 million January 1. That's in addition to profit sharing. I want more, but whining won't get it for you.
