I'm sure the vast majority of them commute to DTW. With that being said, I think DTW and NYC will be neck and neck senority wise--depending on what aircraft are there--in the next two years.
Speaking of A/C, ACL, any new word on what is going where? |

You see those new rates?
Heck their 320 rates are more than ours. Sad when two out of the tree LLC's are getting paid more than us. That means we have an even better chance in 2012. It also makes it more realistic from a management perspective to put these jets over on our Cert. Perhaps, DALPA will be able to make a business case for this flying. |

I agree. Ready for a little more training Bar?
At least "training" in this environment uses the effective, time proven, techniques of, sarcasm, humiliation and insults under a high pressure environment on the back side of your circadian clock with your job on the line. So, when you are displaced, you got that going for you. It helps take the edge of the furlough when you were about to say "I quit" and leave your pubs in the simulator anyway. I now wish that I had done the recurrent check on the 767. I could be FAR "current" on four airplanes at the same time! I could go to an interview with East Cambodia Crew Leasing like this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLyyPCbxnIU "Yeah, I can fly that, yeah and I'm current on all of them, yeah, like just took a check ride, yeah, that's the ticket! No I mean, MY ticket, just look at all that stuff on there." Best line from above "They say the Chinese all look alike, that's because they all look a lot like me" |

The rates aren't perfect, but considering what we've been through over the last several years, these rates will work for me. When/If Delta gets the equipment, I'll be in on the first AE. I'm sure the guys that are looking at possible furlough would feel the same way.
Perhaps, DALPA will be able to make a business case for this flying. As for a business case. With Jet Blue there is one. With republic there is not. :( |

Training? I thought it was "two sims, do the best you can. If you bust we can get you more training." The 737's George Jetsons avionics make it a difficult airplane to go back and forth from the Douglas equipment. The speed tape logic seems to just blow minds, although it makes perfect sense with an RJ background and has some very useful improvements. IMHO the transition back to the MD88 will be fraught will peril. The program could use a few days of procedures training on the 88 so that sim time is used for getting the stick and rudder skills instead of stationary fielding stupid questions.

What's your source on all this? Retraining half the fleet seems like a huge waste of money (not to mention a gigantic stake in the heart of morale) and something I've recently heard from various LCPs that they were leaning against.

I know. I will probably do it to myself too! They are typing the FO's correct?
Are you going to tell him, or shall I, that the Company is going to do what it has to do. Morale, displacement and training are distant secondary considerations. They understand that many pilots will be displaced, a few will have families break up over this. There is no way to factor in the human cost. The good news is that a lot can be staffed out of ATL, if that's good news. Hawaii - the other "consideration" for all of us is that this is driven from levels above Flight Operations management. As far as sources go, I'm an info consolidator. They have been making public statements about the MD88/90 fleet and I think were even quoted here. Go read Steve Gorman's chat and the press about the MD90 purchase(s). It has not been a secret that these airplanes are headed to the upper midwest. |

We ratified the deal, we are getting paid and got the stock. Now it is our time to deliver what we agreed to. We will be given the mission and will be expected to execute. Whining will only be tolerated (and encouraged) on Flight Info. |

Long term it "should" generate more profit, by having every city we serve rightsized. There will be a few surprises when all is said and done, but most of it is common sense. I am going to go for a 777 slot in a northern base :D, um or a DC-9 slot in FSD...... |
