I think the only point I'm making is that career expectations are exactly that...expectations. Nobody could have anticipated the effects that 9/11 had on this industry prior to that day, nor the RJ explosion that helped many get the experience they needed to reach the majors only to now understand the detrimental affects that industry philosophy has had, nor the economic down turns of the last 4 years.

It's not the older guys fault that they lost their pensions and now have to work until they're 65 or 70. I can guarantee that almost all of those guys would be long gone if they could afford to.

No, what we're looking at is the reality that this career ain't the salad days of Pan Am or TWA. Thats gone.

I also returned to my v-file and had my 1-year and 5-year pins waiting for me. I wasn't humbled. I was ****ed. I really hadn't done anything to earn them. I'm making up for that now. And I want my company to reward me for my loyalty, hard work, and safe and skillful flying. That's all.
Very well put Buzz, you should write a book or something....

Can my parents purchase ZED fares from a DAL ticket counter without my presence? Thanks!

Yes, just make sure they have your PPR# and their own. Also make sure they have ID.

Default YS Short Call?

This has probably been covered in the last few days, but I haven't been able to find it.

I was under the impression that we could now (FEB bid period) preference am/pm short call IF we had to have short call, without asking to be first in line. When I hit HELP on the short call YS screen it shows me a bunch of options that aren't actually available on the screen.

Anyone run into this, or been able to input the "new" YS qualifier stuff such as HIGH/LOW yellow. Maybe I need to clear cookies or something?

The YS template looks the same as always to me. I must be missing something as usual.

The YS for SC option goes into effect for the May bid period if I've read the blizzard of negotiator's notepads correctly. We get the bucket system this month and the SC later.

I guess the Commodore 64 running iCrew/eCrew can only do so much.

Little secret for you.

Flying a UAV "PAYS THE EXACT SAME" (dependent on your rank) as any other flying job in the Air Force. Added to the fact that a person can transition back to their mainline Delta job at any time, causes for the best of both worlds. (I guess some people don't need to justify the "sizes of their wristwatches" by the equipment they fly.)

Good day,

GJ

P.S. Most of the UAV driver's today have been on "multiple" overseas deployments, and have chosen the UAV mission for QOL and civilian career progression. Again, have a nice day.
