Carl,
I certainly hope no more pilots have their pensions slashed after they have already retired. But should that happen, I also hope that they have sufficient financial resources and find early retirement so enjoyable that they wouldn't want to go back. I did. :) Carl |

Thanks Chuck, Toad, TooTall, Bronc15, elvis, (T)squared to the responses about CHA/BNA versus Newnan. CHA will get me a company paid move and I could drive in a pinch. I like Newnan, but like TSquare said, It is bulldog country. The only SEC teams I hate are The GA Bulldogs and the TN Volunteers. I'm a gator and all that.

Man the MSP DC9 Trips S**k! Ok, I just needed to vent, but all the trips have some sort of DH in them, most start and end with a DH to/from ATL. (AP hates to DH on domestic flights) I was just checking in PBS and most DH to ATL and have 2:27 to 2:45 before the first flying leg, then on the last day (day 4 or 5) a short turn time prior to the DH out of ATL back to base. It's like they know, if there is a cloud in the sky anywhere in GA, AL or SC, your going to be late, but it doesn't matter, cause you are only DHing and they will give you a center seat on the next over sold flight, with that brat kicking the back of your seat all the way to MSP. I guess I will be bidding reserve next month.
Now on the glass half full side, If you commute, like some recently displaced Mem guys, now you have a positive space ride to and from work. |

I dont want to harsh on you but I'm curious why you have done nothing to improve your station. I went to the same flight school you did, at the exact same time you did and I've been at the majors since the end of 07'. To get there, I had to change airlines a number of times and move towns an equal amount. You have stayed at the same sinking ship for ten years and done nothing to fix your situation. Can't figure out for the life of me why you stay. Does not compute. Help me out. Why would you stay right seat at ComAir for 10 years?
I'm not trying to be mean but you need a kick in the a$$. Move on already. Damn. If I changed jobs every time Delta moved planes around, I couldn't board S3C right behind the Delta newhires, would I? |

Given Comair's treatment of mainline guys during BK, I have zero sympathy for your situation. Don't play the victim card in here, bud. Want mainline benefits? Get hired at the mainline. |

Actually, Newnan has a pretty big contingent of Auburn fans due to the proximity to Alabama. They seem to be cat lovers.

Dudes...I'm planning to JS MSP-PVR in uniform...what's the procedure for int'l JS. can I clear customs in PVR in the crew line?..and more importantly departing PVR can I go to the gate or do I need to go to ticket counter
Going down should be no problem, and you SHOULD be able to clear with the crew if you write you name in on the GenDec. If memory serves me right, you can handwrite your name on the form and it's okay, but you'll want to verify that. Coming back is a different story. They had no idea what a jumpseater was. The line for security after clearing the ticket counter was incredibly long and inefficient. Make sure you show up with LOTS of time (ie before the crew gets to the airport). Of course, if you already know the captain you have an advantage as he can probably grease the skids for you. Have fun. If you are adventurous, I recommend taking the bus or renting a car and heading up to Bucerias (sp?) which is about 25 minutes north of PVR on the coast. It's a small town with CHEAP beer, CHEAP tacos, and a nice quiet beach. Not sure how the recent Mexican ganglandscape has affected that area though, as it's gotten a lot worse since I was last down there. Buen viaje! |
