There were several junior guys on short call who were also good for a 5 day trip but their SC contact time didn't start until 8-10am so guess who got the trip, yup, the most senior guy. I could give you a dozen more examples where a senior guy will fly before a junior guy but I am late to meet my girl for happy hour. Again, bucket is just a tie breaker if all else is equal.
Youre right in the sense that SC is a wild card. When SC assignments become seniority based it will be less wild. But some swear if you have AM you never get called, some say PM never gets called, but there is no way to know what will transpire in a day.

I get called on both. SC is SC and if there are no WS or Out of base WS you will get called.

I'm looking at a layover at the (deleted) Courtyard. In the comments of the rotation it says "overblock status." What does this mean? Should I bring some bedbug fumigation paraphernalia?

Well, then you might as well delete my entire original post. Thanks for the help.

But by all means, any college football blabber is completely legit.

The raw bucket only breaks a tie so if you are senior bidding reserve with the hopes of not flying good luck, you will need it.

I flew my first 2 reserve days in January, then I didn't fly again. In February under new system, I flew my first 9 days. Now I probably won't fly again as I'm in bucket 2. I'd say that's a significant change. I am now going to avoid reserve at all cost. Unfortunately, I won't be senior enough to do that for about 3-4 years unless I bid NYC.

Says the march lineholder with 18 days off, 73 hours of credit and only 3 commutes.

Sounds like you were enjoying some significant out-of-seniority QOL for many years.

no need to fret--DALPA is on our side.

I have to commute up on my days off for all 3 trips. That gives me 15 days off. The only reason I have that is over 50 pilots senior to me bid reserve intentionally.

How so? I am on reserve just about every month. I am in an over-staffed category. Hardly anyone on reserve with weekends off was flying more than 4 days.

Default Distance Learning ?

For the gurus,
My seniority has returned me to the mighty mad dog after a brief (3 month) stint on the 800. Got the training letter, but it didn't mention 90 differences training so I'm trying to track down if I need to complete it, again. I remember there being somewhere in i- or e-crew where you could check distance learning "assigned but not completed" but it escapes me now. Can anyone point me to it?
Thanks!

But shouldn't it be that way?

Fast forward 20 years (assuming we're all still here). Do you still want the junior pilot to be able to "work the system" at your expense?
