Pay me what I deserve, and I'll wear the hat. Until then, kiss my ass. Actually, I rethought this a little. Since you are such a tough guy, and yiou have outed me as management  Why don't you meet ME in person and say that to my face? |

Here's something to like... scheduling called to relieve me from my 24hour short call 12 hours early, so I can go back on short call at noon tomorrow. He should have started with "I've got some good news, and some bad news..." Oh well, at least I can have a beer now.

I was just looking for a little hat relief as we stood there, but respected his request and position, and put my hat back on. From there we got into a little discussion about hats, mostly him talking and me listening. At the time I gave a little rebuff to his comment of how it looks stupid of a guy holding his hat as he walks through the terminal, more for the sake of just trying to play devil's advocate. He rhetorically asked why not just forgo it and don't even bring it with you to work if you feel that strongly about it? At the time I thought, "This guy sure is company." But the more I've seen this practice the more I have to agree: it just looks dumb when a guy is holding his hat. Do I really give a $#!*?...not really, but it does come across as if the pilot who thinks he's making a statement is actually making a statement more about himself than anything else. That and the double breasted jacket flying wide open because it's too much trouble to button. Really? Whatever. If that's your method of showing discontent, well....

wait for it... http://diamaritorres.com/wp-content/...-at-bottom.jpg it's about what the check airman sees asking me questions on the walk around slides. First, I dont know why but these 2 pictures are hilarious!! Second..As to the hat A few months back a flew with an FO who didnt wear the hat (didnt even bring it with him) or wear the jacket (had a black sweater on). Using my best CRM skills I gave him some grief and needled him about it. He might be Bacon's brother because he informed me that this company treats him like s@!t and that he'd never wear the hat. Well fast forward three months and we're flying together again...This time he looks like a Delta Airlines poster child...Hat, jacket....I asked him what happened and I guess he ran into some management types in ATL that walked him to the CP office and issued him a loaner hat a long with a stern warning. Whatever happened was enough to humble this tough renegade into complying and getting with the program. My opinion...Wear the hat, its not a big deal!!!! |

I actually ashamed that we as citizens are asked to fly our flags at half staff for Whitney Houston. Really? I don't think so. She doesn't deserve that.

I guess that's OK as long as you get 2 credits for SC.. I never have liked the assignation of SC. I think they should have to provide some data on the number of SCs assigned each day based on historical useage of SC pilots on an ongoing basis. Then we bid on them.. just like everything else.. up to.. say 4/month. Then the additional 2 (if needed) garner some sort of premium.. No more of this "just in case" logic for having 10 guys on SC when there isn't a cloud in the entire hemisphere..
It never ceases to amaze me how spun-up some guys get over the hat. I dont love the hat or the double-breasted horse blanket, but it's just not that big of a deal. If we spend any negotiating capital on uniform changes, it's a total waste. We have much more important business to take care of. |

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Romeo.svg.png alfa- You're taking this too personally. You gotta face the fact that a lot of people just don't trust ALPA. And its not just a tiny forum-dwelling minority. Its a large group. They are afraid the MEC is more worried about the company's health than they are about the members who put them in office and pay the dues. Your most recent posts only feed that perception. Its unsettling and somewhat disorienting to see the union guys taking a bit too much pride in the corporation's success and seeming to defend management while the pilot group is still working under the bankruptcy contract. Its time to show the rank and file some results. We're hurting out here. Whether or not to use the word "liquidation" is a pointless argument. Call it what you will, but the fact is we are seeing displacements and backwards training. Fix that before you tell us any more about how good the Delta balance sheet looks. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Y98oDQ9ar...al+posters.jpg Cheers |
