Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
And again, I propose that we end negotiations by accepting the SWAPA contract IN ITS ENTIRETY. It would give us world class scope and provide for C2K restoration on pay. SWAPA has this with a profitable company, and Delta is far MORE profitable. There is no way the NMB could see that as unreasonable. That's the strategy. And it's a strategy that DALPA refuses to even discuss...other than to lie about what is in the SWAPA contract.
Really? I've said the above a number of times before. And you've responded to it a number of times before. Is it really an "ears" problem or a memory problem?

"It's entirety"?
So how do you deal with the 253 large RJ's, 500+ smaller regional aircraft, AF/KLM/AZ Joint Venture, other international agreements, Skyteam, training, adjustment of pay for other aircraft types.
In one fell swoop you would cost the enterprise so much money in cancelled contracts, lack of ability to move passengers, elimination of international feed and connections, in addition to reconfiguring our entire workrule and pay package with unknown effects on the parts of the DAL operation that do not function anything like the SWA model.....
In other words, you destroy revenue generation, and increase cash outlay to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars. We'd be right back in BK within a month or two......
So the NMB would think that is reasonable how?

(Plus, many guys don't want the SWA contract... It's not "restoration" IMHO)

Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) is evaluating a purchase of AMR Corp (AAMRQ).’s American Airlines, La Tribune website reported, citing unidentified people at Delta partner Air France-KLM (AF) Group.
Delta Chief Executive Officer Richard Anderson is especially interested in American’s Miami hub and Latin American routes, the website said. AMR filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Nov. 29.

My website is reporting that Anderson is especially interested in buying all of AMR's 777s and then making Check Essential #1 on the seniority list.
That's according to unidentified people at Delta partner Woodford Reserve.
Can someone give me a general run-down how blind swaps work or at least point me in the right direction? Can't find anything in the TWG working group stuff about how to do it.

Look no further than USAir to answer that question. Everybody seems to want to get back to "normal" payrates rather than the BK rates we are in right now, but for some reason blindness sets in when they talk about how to obtain that. You are correct in your analysis that management (and Wall Street) does not like uncertainty. True dat. The problem is how do you determine just how much uncertainty they will tolerate before they allow us to wallow in our own feces. (Again, look over at USAir.. they are making money as a corporation, it is just the pilots who are sucking wind) Standing up and delivering an ultimatum will probably get us rather quickly to that point. YES.. we deserve to be paid more.. a LOT more. I would never disagree with that, but I disagree with the methods of getting to the objective that many seem to have. The other part. We had a good strike vote back in 2000. That probably did lead to management coming to the table with a good offer. That also took unity. This is a sincere question about this: Do you think that we have that kind of unity with the DPA guys wanting to
decertify DALPA? Not flaming.. just asking.
As far as having SWA's scope clause.. I am not sure what effect it would have. I honestly do not know. We could very well find that DAL decides to change the direction they are going wrt all international flying, and they could send a ton of guys out the door. "Every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction" a once very smart man said.... or as another said "Be careful what you wish for" I just don't have enough information to make
that call.... I admire your confidence.
A little more on the strike vote. I am sure DALPA will be coming out with tons of information about the process in the coming months. An actual strike is a loooooooooong way off after the process begins, and there is a specific chain of events before the NMB gets involved. Be prepared.

That USair nonsense will end shortly. Their management has asked a judge to determine which path they can go, to either accept the NIC award or not, and the answer is pretty obvious to most. The verdict is supposed to be given by the end of this month. USair may force the new union to abide by the binding NIC award, and then a contract can be negotiated. USair management wants it done too, so it can attract merger partners and their unions. Higher pay and benefits may sway some people and creditors at good ole AMR....

nwa,
just treat your wish list as if all trips were available and you prioritize them accordingly. now just let it sit in there and if one of the ones on your list pops up, you get it. clear as mud?

In the space for the trip you want to pick up, instead of the rotation number you insert *03 or *04, etc. which means you will take any 3 day trip or any 4 day trip, etc.

The "cancelled contracts" threat is a myth. The vast majority of those fake "penalties" are merely DL being forced to take over the payments. The same payments DL is paying over 100% in the first place.
50 seaters could be left alone to wither on the vine with a shrinking cap matched to current levels. Zero cost.
51-76 seater contracts are forbidden to be entered into or extended, and existing contracts forced to be cancelled at an agressive but controllable rate to allow transition to the DL pilot list. Using a B scale should be avoided, but used if there is no other way to get that flying back. Controllable cost.
We allow Skyteam and even Alaska and Hawaiian flying, but with strict limits. There is no reason why we should code with 2 BOS-SEA flights. Cut it down to one and if we need more we do one. LA-SEA is limited to 2 or 3 AS flights with 50 seats on each. Any more and we put our metal on it. The truly niche markets like Prudhoe Bay and Walla Walla can remain as is until total demand gets to above a fair, predetermined level. Controllable cost and actually significantly increased revenue assuming we can compete with AS as they are by no means some invincibile force that dominates an entire coast without contest.
Skyteam is fine as well, we just need a fair balance. 49.75 becomes 50.00 for AF/KLM/AZ and the balance period is for at least 6 months out of 12 each and every year including at least one peak summer month.
Every new Skyteam carrier will naturally come with promoses of network growth from management, so we make them quantify said growth and put it in writing.
Also, are swaps with the pot subject to white slip pick-up limits?
Ohhh Brother,
Not to add any more fuel to the fire. And probably this route is not a money maker, anyway. Im a pilot what do I know about market strategy, competition and yield
A friend just went to SJD (CABO) from LAX. He does this route, maybe 2-3x a year. First he told me that the flights are FULL, then he asked me why DAL does not do this route?
I told him we do, except our planes are painted in ALASKA colors. He told me he uses ALASKA almost all the time and that the flights are full and ticket prices are robust.
My questions to the people in the know are: Are we morphing into a ticket broker? Is management getting wealthy by farming out our flying? Wouldn't management become more wealthy growing organically? I am getting a little concerned with the SKYTEAM paint also. Could it be that SKYTEAM is the airline we are going to work for, in the future?
These are my main questions and concerns. Our outsourcing makes no sense to me. If the business is there, why dont we compete and take it away? Please Fire away!

Yes. You have a max pick up allowable. Take a look at your schedule, bottom left. It'll tell you how much time you can pick up. If your swap exceeds that, you won't get it.
