It could be done easily in a differences course if there was a FAA approved one. Ditto DC9 to MD-88. Unfortunately there is none. Prior experience with hammer and chisel do help those new to the DC9, as does one of those math for pilot refreshers.

No Soup and a full initial for you!

easily done?....Maybe your an exception but I would have to say absolutely not. Apples and oranges...Some switches look the same but that can bite you, they have different ways to be operated and different values. A differences course would be the same content and length as a full course.

Going from the nine to the 88....the only thing that is the same is how to turn on ground power. Otherwise everything is different. All navigation, all com panels, all engine parameters and gauges.....different.

SC is controlled by scheduling. Him flying in for SC and not flying while the junior folks have 150+ raw score is controlled by the over-respecting seniority reserve system.

Not to single you out since this is a company issue. It seems like the new reserve system is akin to a senior line holder dropping a drip onto your line and you having to fly it while he doesent and still gets paid.

I didn't think it started until May but 80ktsClamp stated differently so I could be wrong. I'm also in training right now so I'm out of the rsv loop.

The SC buckets run 0-2, 3-5, and 6+. SC's are assigned in the following order starting with the first bucket.

YS request for SC in seniority order
Assigned to pilots not requesting in inverse seniority order
Once bucket one is exhausted they jump to the second bucket and start the process over.

More like he would come up with a reason why a 6hr rig would be bad and explain that we don't want to have rules like SW. He'd also finish it off with go there if you don't like it here. The whole time thinking to himself, Delta is the best airline in the world and there is no better place to work., everyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.

Meanwhile in reality.....

Yeah there's more to this captain's story. Must be a small category, he is bidding to work weekends, or both. If you are the guy you're yhe guy....buckets and seniority be damned.

The new system is fine in construction but the buckets are too big as it's been said a hundred times. 60 Raw and I think it would be a lot better for everyone except those who are now on an almost permanent paid vacation. There's something wrong with a system that forces the vast majority of work on a few while paying others the same or more to do nothing. There's a reason communism failed.
