Dude really?

All of these guys that get an extra five years(maybe more) in the left seat need it. They had a pension and no real retirement savings vehicle here at DAL before it was terminated. Many assumed they had a pension and when it was terminated they needed at least another then years to get anywhere close to enough money to retire. They hate being here too,but are happy they get their five years in a left seat while you get your in the right. It is what it is. Stop this junior v senior bs.

42% pay cut

Loss of pension

Loss of work rules

Loss of vacation

Loss of sick time

Working at least 30 more block hrs a year

Need I go on? They are not staying here to screw you or I, they are here to avoid the Walmart greeters job.

When you are there age you too will be doing everything in your power to work until retirement age too. So will I. It is a math game and no more. We would all retire tomorrow if we could.

I agree, retirement planning is not an individual's responsibility. When my social security check doesnt show up 30 years from now ill be asking your grand kids to feed me instead because "i was counting on that".

It's possible i guess that the "retire 2.5 years early" stays the same, but imho if youre healthy enough to make it to 60 you're probably healthy enough to make it to 65. The guys I see over 60 are in shape. Most people I know who have medical issues and such have it in their late 50s.

Btw don't get me wrong, if the rule is 65, have at it. It's the rule. but if we're going to be consistent, why not have made it retroactive? As in forced carriers to take back their over 60 but under 65 at their previous seniority? And why not age 67 if it is truly a financial issue?

And if an FAA medical is good enough, why does alpa fight age 60+ related age testing?

I'm with ya...we need a safety net since we're incapable of taking care of ourselves.

Default Capt D-Bag Update

Hey Guys,

I am happy to report that Capt D-Bag was not flying my DH flight back to MSP yesterday. The flight was only a few minutes late departing and we arrived on time. The First Officer did the PA and kept it short and sweet (Nice). This crew had a clue and the cabin temp was comfortable (even with a full plane and it being in the 80s in ATL). Overall I would rate this DH as a 8 out of 10, with only -2 points for the F/A pushing the American Express Cards. Have a great weekend and here is hoping your DHs are uneventful.

AP out!

I've got VD..Oops got a VD on the AE. It will be an initial qual. Is there any rhyme or reason on the order of training? IE: AE, VD then MDs? Thanks

You got an itch you can't scratch, eh?

Well do what Ferd said to do, scratch harder.

Conversions from AEs and VDs are normally in seniority order, while MDs are in inverse seniority order.

Boeing, Delta Clash on Exports - WSJ.com

Interesting article, seems like we are pushing pretty hard against the Exim-Bank.

Anyone know if American Airline Companies receive the same type of benefit when buying from Airbus? According to the article, it seems we do get this benefit from Brazil and Canada.

Boeing Disputes India Report of $500 Million 787 Payment

Air India seems to be shrooming pretty good if they think Boeing is going to cut them a check for $500 million.

So did Captain PA D-Bag go from the 88 to the 7ER? Or is there, sigh, more than one?
