Here is the "Secret News":

In an effort to stem the losses from the 787 project, Boeing has agreed to sell Delta the designs, dies, tooling, jigs and remaining parts inventory for the DC-9.

Delta will start up production at MSP, which is why most of the engineering staff is relocating there. It also helps fulfill Delta's promise of jobs in the MSP area.

Delta will call the new DC-9 the "Super Duper Hushed WisperWidgetLiner", to be powered by an unducted fan propulsion system.

In the interm, the Compass Jets, as well as the CRJ-700s and 900s at the DCI carriers will all be annexed, and flown by mainline pilots.

Delta will reassign Mesa feeder flying out of HNL, since they couldn't get rid of them via the courts, and Mesa will ultimately go bankrupt trying to compete with itself in Hawaii.
