If they did interview you, they sometimes are looking two to five years out, so do not make a fool of yourself if you did not get it. As with everything here, it is a test and a game. Play accordingly.

Nah, I didn't even get interviewed. Apparently leaving out the fact I have my own monogrammed knee pads was a mistake.

I live in Atlanta and have and MBA-ish background. Just looking at trying to be home more really. NOT really be a mgmt dude. Work less...make more, that sort of thing. Or at least work/ live in the same city occasionally.

And no, they let me fly large Boeing aircraft across Oceans...so no nothing surprises me really.

Funny! On the bold-ed comment. My forays into the 4FL did net me more nights in my own bed and more aggregate money, but my hourly rate went way down. Lots of work and some odd hours too. Still a good gig if you like it.

Well I can tell you that, if you think they get paid more you are sadly mistaken.
You can make almost as much sans the execs flying a little extra without all of the headaches that go with the job. It is really a 24/7 job over there. If you do not have the conviction to give it your all, it is not a fit. I mean that.
People that want to make a difference and do not really care about the money seem to do well. Long term maybe you can make more, but if you cost out the time you put in versus an hourly rate, it really is not more money. There is always way to much work, and not enough hrs in a day to get it done.
Most people I know work six days a week, and normally 12 hr days. That does not include the line flying and answering e-mails after the family goes to bed.
In effect. You may be home more nights, but your night will not be yours. If you family is expecting something else, then they would be greatly disappointed.

I can tell you that I have seen e-mails come in well after midnight form the guys in the office. You have to be driven to survive the job more than a few weeks.

I know and it will not last. I do not see any of them taking it as the flying will suck compared to what they can hold out of ATL!

The only ones that will take it are the ones will less than 20 years that cannot hold good trips in NYC and ATL.

It should be open in fall.
Free parking for us though. I do not see the commute getting much better

Maybe an LAX-DFW flight in the future as well....

Good to know.

Thats the way it is in most corp gigs really. Blackberries will be the death of the American family.

Sim building it is.

Or reserve on something bigish here in ATL....

....7 minutes after the scheds call,"Oh....you gave the trip away already....well keep me in mind if you have something else, thanks." Then I get back on my bicycle and keep riding.

SOC's comming early so we all get to start playing musical bases a year early. That's my guess.

acl65pilot 07-07-2009 10:28 AM

Yes, but that is not it.

acl65pilot 07-07-2009 10:30 AM

FWIW the company has been looking at up gauging DFW so that they can get the commuters out to work. They have had too many people calling in honest.
