HEY NEIGHBOR!
Wow you are close. I didn't know anybody else was so foolish to live this far, but when you only go to town... hardly ever... :D ;) Or, in my case: http://retiredredneck.com/wp-content...cab-pickup.jpg |

So I might have a very good reason to need to fly up to PHF this weekend, which AirTran no longer serves. But you can't nonrev as they've replaced the 3-4 MD88s with 5 CRJ200s with an occasional midnight MD88.
I was just surprised the ticket prices. $1181... each. Can't buy tickets for 4. But if I'm flexible and leave tomorrow, $4,700. All on a CRJ-200. Try that for RASM-CASM on a CRJ-200. And we really think these things will go away? (sorry flyallnite, I didn't see your post, but I hope there is a bust cycle or we'll bust an opportunity to make more money with bigger jets) Wow:eek: That's a lot of dough! Maybe just charter a jet instead! Or buy that super SUV a few posts back and a styro cooler full of your favorite beverage and hit the road! |

Well I guess it isn't all bad news for the Shuttle downgrade; here's something posted from airliners.net:
-The LGA-BOS route averages a 37% load factor and loses about $1 million per month -DL is still the market share leader on the LGA-BOS sector. The A319s will shift back to the domestic hub and spoke system and appear on the following: -JFK-BOS: 4x daily and cancel the 6x daily OH CRJ-900 flights -LGA-JAX: Equipment upgrade -LGA-PWM: Replace an OH CRJ-900 -DTW-DFW: Upgrade a CRJ-900 flight -DTW-MCI: Upgrade a CRJ-900 flight -ATL-ORD/LIT/HOU: Upgrade one flight each |

The company will make more money, so that's a plus... It just makes the "we'll upgauge as the market develops" line a little questionable...LGA ORD is the biggest market and it's 100% RJs... And as we become more "vertically integrated" as a company by buying an oil refinery (a good thing IMHO) we continue to outsource our core competency to third party vendors because it's all the same... Cheers George |
