it is a popular misconception. There are things the 88 cares about, like it's gate still occupied by someone else with no other gates around.

FTB,
I think we were onto something over the JB jet blast vid and discussion. They Closed the thread, not sure why. Who woulda thunk it! |

Well I guess it isn't all bad news for the Shuttle downgrade; here's something posted from airliners.net:
-The LGA-BOS route averages a 37% load factor and loses about $1 million per month -DL is still the market share leader on the LGA-BOS sector. The A319s will shift back to the domestic hub and spoke system and appear on the following: -JFK-BOS: 4x daily and cancel the 6x daily OH CRJ-900 flights -LGA-JAX: Equipment upgrade -LGA-PWM: Replace an OH CRJ-900 -DTW-DFW: Upgrade a CRJ-900 flight -DTW-MCI: Upgrade a CRJ-900 flight -ATL-ORD/LIT/HOU: Upgrade one flight each

Zero sum gain in terms of flying. More RJs in LGA, fewer in other places...
Obviously Delta decides where to put the jets. The company will make more money, so that's a plus... It just makes the "we'll upgauge as the market develops" line a little questionable...LGA ORD is the biggest market and it's 100% RJs... And as we become more "vertically integrated" as a company by buying an oil refinery (a good thing IMHO) we continue to outsource our core competency to third party vendors because it's all the same... That is the magic of capacity restrictions. It also is the justification for Corporate flight departments. When I flew corporate all it took is a couple of these $1,000 fares to make taking our Sabre 65 a money saving proposition.t
Did you personally fly that thing btw? What was it like? I know we've talked about it on here before but I've heard it's fantastic. |

Crazy news. I recently talked to one of the chief pilots in NYC. We discussed the LGA gate swap, and the loads on the shuttles. The CP said that DAL was going to up gauge both shuttles to mainline aircraft because of demand. Then exactly the opposite happens.
Where is this news posted? I don't see it on Deltanet anywhere. |

Well, I know more about jet blast and blast pads than I did this time last week.

I am loving the talking heads being all puckered about DAL's alleged interest into the refinery. The energy psychologist's take that Delta is "stupid".. But here is an article that seems a little more balanced. It acknowledges the cutting edge concept while also acknowledging the risk.
