along time ago I saw a picture of a Chinese 747 landing at Hong Kong and burying its right outboard into the ground with the rest of the airplane still airborne. I've never been able to find that pic again but it was a profile view right off the right side. It was... breathtaking.

Here's the Boeing answer to the 777 crosswind landing: Just touch down in a crab!

Makes my arse hurt just watching it, but it seemed to work out ok for them!

And here's a 'real one' being done in NRT, not sure what the winds actually were, but if you watch closely you'll see the windsock, and a NW (DAL) 747 taxiing out as this guy goes by.

I was thinking about why they haven't installed one of those curved blast fences, but then I saw the one video of the 747 taking off towards the beach, ie. opposite direction of what most of the videos are showing. I wonder if there is some type of a 'clear way' restriction, to putting up a more solid structure there, like a blast fence, for opposite departures?
Here is another "interesting" video that is starting to get some traction.

Moral of the story: Assume you are being video taped at all times.

I guess that idiot that I flew with a couple months ago that kept going "it'll blow off at 80 knots" was right, eh?

Here in the states Sun Country Airlines (one word has an FAA approved procedure to take off with up to 1/2 inch of non-adhearing snow on the aircraft. You can see them sometimes in MSP taking off with snow on the aircraft.

Hey, all you DL Capts., there are some May lines posted, but you'll have to back-door it. Us the Feb. awards, and in the address bar, where it says FEB/feb change that to MAY/may Presto, your lines may be there waiting for you!

Happy Hunting!

There haven't been "shuttle standby" crews in at least 3 years so that is not a factor.
