As for having A321s - no need, we've got a boatload of B757s
For now. But they'll be retiring quicker than our pilots pretty soon.

Sure, that's the "plan" - all those 757s SAY they are going to retire at 28. But when Network sees how the economy is doing and the 757s look at their retirement package... well - you know how it turns out.
Quote: Naaaaaaaaaa needs an all red tail

The rest of what you said is ok
Whatever it is, I just hope it fits on the tail. I'm over these idiotic Madison Avenue focus group driven oversized logos that only partially fit on the tail at an angle that everyone's using these days.

Stupid kids and their rock and roll music.
Quote: Thats why in a vacation month you bid a RLL and then do an * pickup through PCS. It makes for a "nice" month.

*=wildcard
Couldn't even make it work with an RLL But, since I was "unblockable" I could have taken just the vacation line and then worked the open board (they were VERY specific that there would be no min guarantee). But I did the reserve line since there is NO open time anymore. Couldn't see giving up 30 something hours.........

They're going to change the regs to allow an extra 50,000 cycles. New manufacturers will come up with early out incentives for them but they'll never leave.

Quote: The 717 is 10,000lbs lighter than the A319, if you don't need the range it's no contest.

BR700 Series engines are used on Global Express and GV family, the new G650 also has BR700 family engines. Those jets are very dependent on the most efficient engine to gain maximum range...

Do you thing Gulfstream and Bombardier would both pick a fuel-inefficient unreliable motor for their top of the line business jets?

The BR715 has the largest fan diameter of the Br700 family with 58"
It is at least as efficient as the CFM56 or V2500 in the A319, with a smaller core and a higher bypass ratio probably more so...

Cheers
George
George, you and your 717. Are you making PMA parts in the garage? If you're going to keep making a case for that, I'm going to make a case for this 100 seat jet:

  • Available used with low cycle counts
  • Cheapest APU in the industry
  • Lower block times for equivalent trips
  • Low traffic density at FL 550
  • nearly as fast as Southwest
  • Absorbs more excess pilots as Delta outsources work
  • Lots of redundant fuel tanks
  • Positive corporate image
  • SO gets to turn on the "reheats"
  • Cheap parts - (we'll have to make them at the TOC)

Left two out:

Solves mythical "no 100 seater" problem.
Can do Transatlantic turns.
Quote: No, there is nothing there. If you go there you will have the folks onboard till the rescue ship arrives. A lot is word of mouth passed down over the years but it had better be REAL bad to go into Iwo. If you have an ETOPs jet Iwo isn't even listed anywhere on the release and the two points are departure and destination (I think we still do NGO - GUM).

Anyway, T can pipe in with anything new but Delta has at least attempted to put some guidance out. NWA was just it's there but please dont use it.

Ferd
You are correct. I just did GUM-NGO.

Ali Velshi is on CNN reporting on a Birdstrike to the right engine on his Delta flight today, a 757 on T/O out of JFK (to LAX), they returned to an uneventful landing.

He did give a 'Nice Job" to the Crew.

Film at 11...supposedly some clown in First Class was filming it with his iPad. (instad of having all electronic devices turned off, see what happens if you don't turn them off?? They attract Seagulls!)
Quote: talking about fleet repacements with the 717 and 319 what is the possibility of ever seeing the A321 in Delta paint?

According to the latest lca in the know. The 739 was chosen over the 321 for numerous reasons. It won't do what a 757 will, but neither will the 739. Kind of a prettiest pup in an ugly little kind of decision.
