For those who are considering moving to MSP, make sure you go and spend AT LEAST a week looking around and interacting with the locals.

While relatively safe, it is an uncommonly expensive city to live in. If you are a seafood lover, get used to Walleye (it's gross) or Red Lobster, cause that's about it.

Unless you are from Minnesota or Wisconsin, you may be given the cold shoulder by the locals. It's just they way they are...everything revolves around what town you live in (Edina vs Eden Prarie), where you went to high school, and what hockey team you kid plays on.

You may be able to tolerate it, but from what I understand, spouses, who are there 24/7, don't like it at all because of this. It's hard to break into the local social scene unless you live in a neighborhood of other out-of-towners.

FWIW, 9 out of the last 10 fNWA guys I talked to are planning on heading to NYC. All were former NYC or BOS based guys, and live in PA, RI, NY or NJ, and are pretty stoked.

My 0.02...

Hi Nu,

Cvg is exactly the same way. I moved there 19 yrs ago and still don't understand the place. There are 3 zones. The West side, the East side, and Northern Kentucky. If you're from the West side, you're not good enough for the East side. The NKyians don't know where the East or West side is. If by some odd series of circumstances, (think Capulets and Montegues) the two should find themselves married to one another, the only neutral territory for them is found across the river in Northern Kentucky. However in their new land they are ostacized by the Ft. Thomas types who have never been out of the county let alone across the river.

There are 6 weeks of good weather. 3 in the sprind and 3 in the fall. The rest of the time it suffers from Florida style humidy(without the sea breeze or the boats) or subarctic blasts that give you all the ice without any of the sunshine. There is NO outdoor life style in the winter. People don't come out of their houses from Dec to April.

Other than that, its a nice place. Looking forward to the A320 base.

I am sorry I got people's hopes up. I was so wrong for doing that. My intention was only to say, as I knew it at the time, that 'hey some goods news is finally coming.' But I was wrong. Nothing is forthcoming. For the multiple insults that are heading my way I will accept all (except those pertaining to family members) and I profusely apologize to everyone, hoping you have it in your heart to forgive.

Once again, apologies to all!

After it's been confirmed by ACL & others? Color me a tad suspicious...

If you're serious and it truly was bad info, don't sweat it - anybody taking a rumor spread on APC as the gospel truth is just plain gullible. Most of us take it for what it is.

Dude,

Don't be too hard on yourself. It's an internet website. Anyone that takes anything posted on here too seriously needs a thorough head examination anyway.

I however can't sit on this any longer. Delta is buying all the remaining legacy carriers. Southwest is buying all the LCCs, and RAH is buying all the regional carriers. The merger of the new Delta, Southwest, and RAH will take place on the 15th (of something). Niccolai has been retained to arbitrate the seniority list. The industry will finally have pricing power.

Not on Sunday, unless you head to the bar......oh and not after 8pm weekdays.

On a side note MSP is a great place to live, a lot of what the other guys said is true but is confined to a few uppity suburbs. On the bright side, if you move to Edina you can be neighbors with Brett Favre, shhhhh don't tell anyone.

Disclaimer: Born and raised in MSP, played hockey, and went to one of THOSE schools but not ONE of THEM. Just a cold northerner with southern blood. LOL

Opus,

I appreciate your intentions. Thanks for keeping morale up. Those that are busting your chops for not getting into details are jerks. I am patiently waiting for 7/15, & hoping it is positive news. Perhaps some will come before then. I don't think some here realize the consequences of violating an NDA. Small tidbits & hints of possible good news are better then nothing IMHO. Thanks to all who contribute positively. :)

I ask these questions in all seriousness as he seems to have quite the following. As a North pilot I'm used to 99% of all rumors being just that.

Thanks

Kams,

All I can say is that after watching and conversing with ACL, he is rarely wrong. Are they guru-like predictions? No. For the most part, it seems he is relaying information he gets from multiple sources that know more than the average line pilot. For what it's worth, I believe what he says and I am a true skeptic at heart.

DAL-S guys/gals:

When checking in for a rotation, I understand you can do it through ICrew. Do you have to be at a certain terminal in the airport to do this, or can you do it from your laptop prior to getting on site. Also, can you just call in while you are in the parking lot to checkin?

N has to use one of 4 special phones in MSP in order to check-in, and don't be 10 seconds late doing it either.

Just curious. Thanks,
