Anyone have experience buying "refurbished" Apple/Mac products? I'm leaving on deployment in a month, and looking at purchasing a refurbished iPad to take with me. What I don't want to happen, in my (~)$50-$100 savings, is to buy something that I could've ended up saved time/money by buying new. An early thanks to all those pro-Mac people out there. GJ (Proud owner of Macbook, iPhone, & past iPods.) In fact, my attitude (with Apple) is why buy new if I can find it refurbished? |
The article about TSA calls it quixotic, but I agree with everyone here. TSA is worthless. Can you imagine the uptick in air travel if TSA went away? No more pat-downs, molestation, etc....

The refurbished "personal" electronics iPhone, iPod, all have a new shell, indistinguishable from new... Cheers George |

The "analysts" and "experts" are starting to change their tune, a month from now the refinery deal will be a "brilliant move":
Refinery Deal Could Provide Delta Enough Savings To Dominate Atlantic “Delta will be able to cover a large portion of its jet fuel needs at the major New York airports at a cost substantially below that of its competitors,” adds Verleger. “This advantage would be particularly useful in the very competitive North Atlantic market, where Delta goes up against American [Airlines], British Airways (BA), Lufthansa, Air France, United and Virgin Atlantic, among others. “With Trainer, Delta could match the competition’s prices and pocket profits from lower-cost fuel. Alternatively, it could follow Southwest’s example and initially pass the cost savings on to consumers. This would force larger losses on other airlines or cause them to exit the market. We bet that Delta chooses the latter option,” notes Verleger. George |
Phantom/Buzz/George,
Thanks for the info and advice. I've decided to buy a refurbished iPad, and never pay full price for an Apple product again. :) After all, we are pilots right? (i.e. If you're paying full price, or any price at all, you're wrong!) :D GJ |

+1, I'm 100% in favor of abolishing the TSA. Complete knee-jerk waste of funds and time. I would go so far as to say that the mere existence of TSA in some regard makes the 9/11 bin laden attack successful in all the ways terrorism is meant to succeed.
