ATL LEC meeting
Thanks ACL for posting the Officer's report. Good synopsis of the meeting. I'm glad that I went, although the information that was covered was mostly items we've discussed here.
Ran into some of the APC team in the meeting. They were easy to pick out at the first break, beacause only a handful of us were walking around using the hand signals that TImbo suggested. :D Understandably there is a great deal of angst floating around in the pilot group. The last decade or more has been brutal to the pilot group. Having said that, I believe our Reps are doing a good job of soliciting our input and are being responsive to us. I believe we will see a TA very soon and it will stand or fail on its own merits. If we wind up in traditional Section 6, then we're where we would be anyway. If the TA passes, it's because it met most of our requirements. The Union knows where the pilot group stands and so does the company. Think of it this way, this is an "opportunity" for the us and the company to further seperate ourselves from the competition. We are pulling away from our competitors and this would allow us to continue to increase that lead. If the company presents a substandard proposal, it's a lost opportunity for the company and could cause more difficulties within DALPA. I fully believe that this is not what our management team wants, and would not be characteristic of group that is know in the industry to be thinking out of the box. This contract is huge for many of us. Personally, I'm in a demographic that will be enormously and immediately effected by what we do with regard to scope. This may be huge to us, but a perception I have that was strengthened in the meeting is that this is a housekeeping item for the company. The company is trying to get everything in order for a couple of moves that are so far over the horizon that only a couple of us are really able to start connecting the dots. This contract is a small dot along that trajectory. Personally, I'm taking a deep breath, waiting for the TA and judge in it's entirety. TC |

Wait, I thought he said Scope wasn't a contract item? I guess it's a contract item after all.

I think what he's trying to say is that a NC with a unified pilot group behind them can negotiate from a position of strength.

His point is that we can force them back to the table.
This is my third full Section 6. The first one was approved for MEMRAT by the MEC and sent to the pilots. The pilots turned it down and sent it back to the MEC and the company. A survey came out ranking the top five items that needed improving and by what level. After that survey was completed, the ensuing talks took no time at all and the deal was done very quickly. The result was a pass rate well above 70%. As for what Mesaba is saying, he is saying until this pilot group forgoes small raises and votes as one large block on a single item like scope, recapture is impossible. I agree with that, and the reality is people look at the whole deal, ask the Mr or Mrs, and then vote what is best for their family. |

A 100% no vote is a show of unity, repeated no votes at 51% show a divided group. A unified group is able to negotiate a better contract.

I agree, but a 100% NO vote is about as likely as world peace.

Question
IQ Training Credit & Pay Question? I just got my student schedule and it shows my training going on from the 1st to 26th of July, so it leaves 5 days at the end of the month. Am I effectively finished for the month or could the give me OE right off the bat? Also, if I bid, I know I get a shadow schedule and that is what my pay is, but what if I don't bid? Is there a 3:15 per day like CQ? Thanks

Just looking at the Negotiator's Notepad and thinking about the low productivity trips we have now (10.5 hour three days). Seems like it would be possible to build rotations like:
ATL>UIO (24 hour sit) UIO>ATL (drop off line holder, sit for two hours) then fly a turn, ATL>CHS>ATL. If the goal in the summer is ALV +15, there are going to be a lot of penalty laps into and out of uncommutable trips. What am I missing? Delta already owned and operated two 121 airlines with little in the way of work rules. They are experienced in this sort of operation. |
