Hopefully they see a need to hang on to some of the airplanes the 737's were going to replace. DAL loves used airplanes, like the MD-90 and 717's. We have used airplanes right under our nose - hope they can hang on to some of the airbus and 757's slated to go.

Agreed. I don't understand why the 90 is so damn hot in the summer. They fixed most of the quirky issues from the 88 on the 90, but the cooling is much worse on the 90.

It was Douglas's secret revenge on the Chinese. "So, we're going to give them all the plans to build an MD-90?"

"Kind of. Let's see if they notice this...."

Here's another fine product being built by one of Bar's favorite engineers at Long Beach:

for that reason he is on the 73. his fears of being right placed on the 88 is why his tag says what it does. either way, the fact he isn't sitting sideways is testament to the fact he is holding equipment out of seniority and needs to be right displaced as some say.

also i slip him some coin to keep it up to keep people off this thing in Atlanta.

he does well, but the problem is he doesn't know that it's the 90 living up to the reputation.

You guys are pretty tough on Douglas aircraft. Think about this - The DC-9 and the 88 were pretty much the same generation as the 737-200/300/500.

How many of them are still flying passengers in the US compared to the DC-9 and the 88?

I agree the 88 is not in the same league as the 737 NG aircraft but for the most part you are comparing 1960s and 1970s Douglas aircraft with 1990s Boeing aircraft.

I will even agree with Bar that some of the Douglas engineering was, how shall I state this, creative to say the least. Case in point, the Rube Goldberg Wet compass. On the other hand, the things will fly with no electricity and no hydraulics.

Now whats this I hear about hiring? :)

If we hire it's not for the block plan as released. A new jet announcement that we would take delivery of in short order or the 757's stating would cha ge the 2013 block plan and possibly necessitate hiring.

With Flt ops announcing no AE until the end of the year it would be hard to hire or recall those on bypass until another AE was posted unless all pilots were going to the dc9

It does make more sense to hire than to displace. I assume you would see an AE prior to hiring.

You KNOW the 5 year plan changes...every 3 weeks. They don't even know what they are doing next month, let alone next summer, so it's impossible for us to have a clue. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.

We all hope for the best, but are all experienced enough to know the difference. :D

edit: what's really funny is the amount of butthurt that post caused. 3 days and going now!

BFD... I don't care how many "aviation jobs" he's had... If that is the case, then he really has no excuse for the commentary here (and in the CPZ crew room). Anyone who has been in the business with that much experience show know to keep their head down, work hard and not make waves.......ESPECIALLY when they aren't even on property yet nor have even started (much less completed) probation.

This most definitely isn't his "first post" of his thoughts on the Delta Pilots and their union...

BTW, how'd you become the expert on what Delta is looking for?

Goood gooood... let the butthurt continue to flow. On to the 4th day of it now!

Has someone come back to the keyboard after a few? :D After all, this isn't the company's social media site is it? If so....errr...that was my brother who posted the underboob. And I didn't give him my password...he hacked into my account. (Anthony Weiner and Lumberg references there = bonus points).
