And really, once you hit the AMT threshold, all the write offs start going away, even the 4 kids! So use it while you can!

Agreed....This is a great reason to justify buying a New iPad, but why should I put out the $$ if the Co is going to supply me one. I guess if I had a tons of $$ laying around and I wanted to blow some of it this would be a good use, but I don't. ACL - Any idea on WHEN step 2 may take place?

Exactly right, the choices available are poor. And for some/many these days, moving isn't a choice because of home values...
The big takeaway to me is that my own experience pales compared to where the A's I fly with stands...

With 20+ years at DAL super nice guy RP just went back to being a B, and he knows all about schedules ;-)

I can easily count 20+ guys that held 76 or 7ER A and are barely holding on to 737 A or got bounced back to 7ER B.

That's when the seniority system that promises advancement has failed, and its up to us, the pilots-to make it right...

AMT is calculated off the top line of the second page of the 1040...right?

So all the 1st page writeoffs still work.

Timbo,

Do you have a landline at home? My accountant told me this past year that unless I had a primary phone line, I couldn't claim my cell phone. He suggested I buy a magic jack. Have you heard of this rule?

Jack,

It is very easy to fall for this. Initially I also started to extrapolate my last few years forward under this NN, but the more I thought about it, spurred on from some good insight on this thread, my thoughts on this have topic have "evolved."

Another LIE. This does not apply to the Delta pilots and never has. The ALPA C&BL* allows a dues exemption for pilot contributions to their 401k if the 401k is the only retirement plan they have. The Delta pilots have never qualified for that exemption. This will not affect the Delta pilots at all. It is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

This is from a group of experienced and knowledgeable former ALPA volunteers? This discussion was on the forums a few years back. Any forum lurker should remember it was debunked then as well.
