WTH is going on with our stock today?

Delta announced more cutbacks in flying; more specifically, Atlantic international routes. "It's a proactive measure. We're not seeing any signs of weakness in any one region, per se," said Ed Bastian.

The financial meltdown in Europe is just beginning and they are being proactive. It will come to the USA here shortly.

I've been hearing that for years.

The investor forums must be hot with rumors of enormous pay raises in our TA! They are dumping airlines as UCAL and others will soon pattern up from DAL!!!

Not less, but different reliance. We will be changing the mix. It may be a bit less, but still a big part of the contributor to Delta Air Lines.

New Aircraft?

Can't speak for other airlines. XXX Margin is based on a numerator and a denominator, we work on both. (non answer, IMO)

Thanks for the summary bar. Although I wasn't able to listen in, I can see where these two points fit together. If the DCI mix is "changing" and "other airlines" may be getting new aircraft, you put those together and I think we get a picture of what DAL wants with respect to scope going forward.

Sleepy Ed's dreams of fewer pilots, less capacity and more outsourcing took our valuation down nearly a Billion dollars today.

Anyone notice the messages from today's Q&A:
  • Up-gauge outsourcing
  • Reduce Capacity
  • Not replace retiring employees
  • Oil refinery efficiency is the equivalent of a mainline aircraft order
  • Reduction in unit costs in the fall
Not mentioned:
  • 717's, C Series or anything that might compete with a new RJ.

What happened to Richard's "Delta pilots fly Delta Aircraft," or whatever the actual quote was?

Although IF the 717s or 319s are in the unreleased TA, I suppose they can't announce them yet.

Well since you put that in quotes.. that must be it...

Airframes are not included in any contract. Only the rates at which we will operate them. What do you mean there? And just because we have negotiated rates (CRJ900?) doesn't mean they are coming. We might have negotiated 717 rates (which would be prudent) but that means absolutely NOTHING in terms of what the company will buy. (Insert argument for longevity based type pay rates here)
