This isn't intended as a condescending post, so take it for what it's worth. I will assume that most of the non-dal folks reading this have generally done their homework, so, I won't go into any details on the interview, etc.

Do not show up fat. If you are fat lose weight. Get in shape, whatever you need to do. The clock is ticking.

This is just my opinion, but remember, most of the interviewers have a military background. This instills an anti fat bias. They are not using it as a weed out tool, but if you show up fat, you start off in the hole. It is what it is.

Your getting hired at dal is not a birthright. If you think you are special because you have sat through thousands of hours monitoring an RJ flying on the autopilot, guess what, you aren't.

Be easy on the eyes, it will make your life better and your interview easier.

Dropped 10 pounds of my interview and I was running ~ 15 to 20 miles a week before (not exactly a lardo before). Just like the Blue Suit, Red Tie, Black Wingtips, Belt with Gold Buckle, not required, but known to work. Figure it is a one hour meeting for a $5,000,000 + gig and huge quality of life improvement. Worth it?

Problem is, after dropping 10 you're hungry, and they lock you into the flight deck of an international jet, with not a whole lot to do ... then they push First Class meals through the door, followed by the BEST ice cream, and you just gotta go for the chocolate ....

... and when you're nice to them, most of the Flight Attendants respond by being very generous with the goodies they have ...

Took me seven years to learn to deal with these kind people just like I deal with panhandlers and drug dealers "NO, GET AWAY FROM ME ... NO MORE ICE CREAM ... ok ... well maybe ... just a taste ... oh' and you got some Chocolate and that whipp ...) ugh. It is possible to run off beer (3 miles per beer). It is impossible to run off First Class meals + desert.

During the physical, do they still do the stress EKG on the treadmill? When I went through the process, we were waiting our turn to get on the treadmill, and watching the guys in front of us. The guy next to me was a smoker.

As we watched the guy on the treadmill huffing and puffing for about 5 minutes, he said, "Phuck me, there's no way I'm going to be able to do that!" He was not "fat" but he did smoke.

Never saw him again. So it may be the physical that weeds out 'fat guys', not so much the fat guys sitting across the table!

Luckily for me, I was running 6 miles a day at that time, so I had no worries there. But as Bar points out, it's too easy to gain weight if you fly International trips, you eat out of boredom! I put on quite a few lbs. when flying right seat in the MD911. When I finally decided to lose it, I just simply stopped eating anything but salads on the airplane, (no dressing, just lemon juice) spent more time in the gym and on my bike, and was able to drop 20lbs. in about 6mo.

I've got to go ride my bike now, you all have fun with the pancakes!

I agree with that, I don't know just seems a little harsh but it is the truth.
