The current delivery schedules on aircraft support 500 to 600 pilots a year being hired. Add in retirements and the number jumps a bit. Sustaining numbers over 60 to 70 a month does not seem to make sense unless there are some additional aircraft in the pipeline not officially announced.

That's what I was thinking. However, retirements are the big unknown here. 2014 had 241 actual retirements. I think there were less than 100 mandatory. If that many guys continue to leave early, I could see 800-1000 a year for the next few years.

Muzick, Any hints on why the mil guy didn't get hired? Just curious

He was asked to interview short notice, one week, but still took it. He didn't do any interview prep. ;(

That stinks. Did he bust the HR or Cog test?

Besides retirements, and airplanes already announced, the SEA 73N and NYC 330 opening will create training bubbles as well. Lots of movement.

And that is why anyone looking for an airline job should do some kind of interview prep as early as possible.
