Isn't the first class for potential off the streeters not until Feb roughly? Has Delta hired into a pool before? Seems a little early.

When is it too early to try to get out of Pinnacle?

Thanks and I was ready to get out a few years ago but Delta wasn't hiring. I love flying fighters don't get me wrong but I see my future as an Airline pilot and my weekends spent on drill flying. It's better that way!!
However, I don't expect an email for sometime. My TT in a jet is under 2000 but it is all PIC/IP. I'm sure there are loads of other dudes with more time than that. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and be ready when and if the email comes. Luckily I have 7 LOR's and all from Delta pilots. That might help but again there is a lot of luck involved.

It is not unexpected. You just have to consider the top 100 or so are either near retirement or have been here so long it is not worth starting over. As the number goes down the list the greater the percentages of people taking the SSP will go drastically go up.

This idea of entitlement gets thrown around a lot, let us not forget that every single XJ pilot was told they would get a flow to NW without an interview. So yeah, actually if the XJ pilots were given what they were promised they were 'entitled' to a job. At this point people 1.) don't care and are tired of being lied to and drug through a bogus BK process TWO times in 7 years and 2.) don't know how the process works. Pass judgment all you like but you have no clue why someone would/wouldn't take the intuitive, entitlement is probably the lowest of reasons why someone has yet to fill out the airline app.

Yep. I'll bet most of those guys are close to if not over 50. Chances of Endeavor being around for 10 more years is good so they probably just don't want to start over again. I know alot of old ExpressJet guys who had guaranteed interviews at CAL that never took a chance because they were in the top 100. There were even a bunch of those guys who had flow rights without interviews that stayed at XJT.

Hiring will be very limited to off the streeters for a few years. I know quite a few who have been applying to big D since 2007 and are expecting to wait until 2015 or so, however, if you stay positive and focused on your mission, eventually it will happen. Remember, you have until 65 to make the big bucks.

4 of the first 66 isn't too bad. That's to be expected. Most of them were born in the 1950s. A few in the 1940s and 1960s but on average it's guys born in the 50s which means they are ages are well into 50s and approaching 60s. For them going to Delta for a 5-10 year career isn't worth it.

The only problem with this line of reasoning is that NWA no longer exists. It sucks, sure, but there it is. I was told that I had the last job I would ever have and upgrade in 5/6 years, only to be furloughed 11 months later. If any one actually believes anything management says to them 100%, then they are either fools or clueless to the realities of this industry.
