It's not unusual to slow or stop hiring at Delta in the summer. They also try and keep upgrade training at a minimum in the summer. The reason is the large uptick in summer block hours dictates keeping as many pilots on the line flying and out of the school house as possible. The April break in interviews reflects that they have enough pool pilots to cover the summer classes. I expect things will pick up in the fall both for new hires and upgrades.

Was in a meeting where they said 24/week for the foreseeable future. I hope that is true.

That is almost double what they have planned. It would mean there is a fleet plan change.

I have seen Chief Pilots, Asst Chief Pilots, DPE, LCA and project managers. Most have at least a 3.0 GPA, some have a Master's Degree. They are involved at work and in the community. They all have a great attitude on life.

There have been a few who do not have any TPIC but are well connected. Parents may have worked for Delta. They also have impressive applications but the only thing they lack is TPIC.

Everybody will get a chance to interview at some point. The key is to remain positive and not give up hope. There are so many qualified pilots and so few positions each year. Today is April 1st. Everybody should be updating their application every 1st of the month. Always think about what you can do to improve yourself at work and at home.
How was their resume impressive if they didn't have tpic? Could you give examples? Thanks!

If you don't have TPIC think about what you can do to replace this "Captain" time. How can you show your leadership ability to the recruiters?

Many of my clients were leaders in the community. Most pilots had a leadership position at their company. Their GPA was on average a 3.5. Some had a Master's Degree. Some were flying overseas. Most were planning for this opportunity to interview for months. I cannot stress enough about networking. Try to meet as many people as you can in this industry because you never know where your next job lead will come from.

The most important thing is to have a great attitude and never give up. Stay positive because you will have moments of doubt. Keep thinking what can I do to improve myself professionally and personally.

Or that they've finally pulled their heads out of their collective rectums long enough to realize that they can't operate their current plan with the staffing they have!

Yeah, that was what MD said at the NYC LEC meeting on the 10th.

Hang in there, fisher. I've got to think you'll get the call before you know it.
