It's all about perspective. Mine is that Delta has know problem furloughing and taking my pension.
Your perspective is obviously different. I guess had I not been furloughed for half of a decade and was currently a 767 captain I would have a different perspective. And in your defense the vast majority of captains I fly with are very happy. Except the one's that complain about it taking them 12 years to upgrade to captain, they are a little disgruntled.
I was simply trying to point out that any allegiance to Delta is wasted effort because Delta has know allegiance to you.

Well that's just great. But some idiots seem to take everything as gospel and when it doesn't pan out that way try to blame.. oh, I don't know.. maybe their representation? for those woes.

You make me laugh.

Yeah, they didn't take my pension.
My point is that here is a newhire (hopefully) that has shown that he will be happy to be here. And all you and guys like purpledrunk want to do is whizz in the man's Wheaties. Congratulations, you will foster a toxic workplace. I hope that will make you happy.

T-Square,
FYI…I LOVE Delta. I am a Diamond Elite flyer. My wife is a Platinum. I give you my daughters with regularity to fly out to join me on my trips skiing or traveling to Europe. (2 going tomorrow, BTW…) Had 2 roommates in college who's dads were Delta captains, and worked for another as a CFI in LaGrange where he managed the FBO…
In short…I am a fan. And had the hiring freeze of Jul 01 occurred, I'd likely have been there if they had hired me…
My point is its a dynamic world. I love this industry, and want it to thrive. But I also keep an eye or two on the other options, just in case things turn south.

I get what you guys are all saying, and I especially feel for all who lost their retirements, were harmed in an SLI, and just generally otherwise abused in this industry. I know what it's like to be undervalued. I just hit 8yr CA pay at my airline and I make the equivalent of 2nd year DAL narrow body FO pay. Is DAL my number one choice? It has to be, because their pay is improving and they called me for an interview. Once I'm in class, will I leave for another airline? No, I'm committed. I saw a lot of people jump ship in the 90s from airline to airline and it worked out for one 1 person (twa to aa). The legacies are soon to be all sitting in the same boat pay parity-wise, so really if you look at pilot-mgt relations, that puts DAL ahead of the others. Yes, I do realize I'm expendable. My chief pilot reminds us that all the time

I urge all new hires to enjoy the job, but realize improvements must be made. Don't let guys who "got theirs" like Tsquare lull you into a false sense of complacency.

You'll fit right in. Your only adjustment will be a decrease in trip quality...ymmv, you may love mad dog trips.
Good luck hope you get an invite to the suck.

I actually like working here. But improvements can and must be made. I refuse to let complacent kook-aid drinkers such as yourself--crippled by risk-aversity--coast out, while letting the bottom fall out of the career in which I have multiple decades remaining.

The majority of your posts say otherwise.
That's ridiculous. You are just a whiner who wants to drag everybody down with you. Case in point, here comes a newbie that is talking about how much he wants to be here... and as an added bonus, it is OBVIOUS that this would not be his first rodeo, and right on cue you come in and rain all over his parade. What a joy you must be to share a cockpit with.
Oh, and I am far from "coasting out"... gonna remain senior to you for quite a few more years.. kiss kiss
