IMO Delta is seriously trending towards buying Airbus aircraft for the future. And they will be around for a long time. Look at the last couple of orders. If not I think Airbus will make a better deal on the 350. I do think the order will be split but I also think it will be in Airbus's favor.

Im a huge airbus fan. I know a lot of people have been recommending not bidding it, but it seems to suit my needs perfectly especially since I don't care about report or release times living in base. All of the narrowbodies fly multileg days with the good stuff going very senior, so as much as I want to factor in legs per day, I see its fairly even among the 73n/a320/md88, and since the flying varies so much, its nearly impossible to nail down which has the best trips for a junior guy.

FYI In today's class, the bottom 12 slots were all ATL/MD88, so guys like me with my low ssn did not get a choice on their base and equipment.

If NYC is your preference, you will probably be able to do a base swap before you are even done with training. Bids have been coming out about every 30 days lately.

True, plus I think ATL going to the bottom of the class is really surprising. Ive talked to about 15 people or so in my upcoming class, and the majority want ATL. I think NYC will flow to the bottom for my class, but Im wondering if people are so scared of the MD88 that they took a different airplane to a base they didn't want, knowing they could bid into ATL soon?

When I was flying the MD88 back in the Dark Ages, it was a great airplane if you wanted to fly east of the Mississippi with just the occasional "toe in the pond" to test the waters to the West!

Not to scare anyone, but I think the recent terminations of a few people who failed md88 training are making people second guess if they can go from their current electronic airplane to the older technology. It looks like it will be a fun experience going back to a real hand flying airplane and actually becoming a stick and rudder pilot again, but the transition is going to require dusting off some old cobwebs. I think I'm gonna like the 88!

9 new hires are coming to the ER in NY this month. It's very rare to see bids awarded for FO's in the spring or summer. The NYC ER always suffers a big drop in FO block hours as the summer Europe flying winds down. Lots of relief FO's not needed.

Just curious. Was it attitude or ability, or a combination of both?

Not sure. I heard about it only from doing my research on the a320 vs 73n vs md88 ... Its entirely possible it was not due to ability?
