I don't think anyone is worrying about negotiating so many "efficiencies" we go from hiring 1000 a year to furloughing. But we need to be on red alert at all times for "efficiencies" that will lower the need for required pilots the most when times are good.

The company can reduce the need for a lot of pilots any time it wants to by simplifying fleet types. Work rule changes, a possible attempt at redefining block time, larger "RJ's" at the regionals and "selling" the AF/KLM scope grievance are just a few areas where we could literally sell our jobs to the company for a few pieces of silver.

This is a high threat environment with real jobs at stake. We can't let them hoodwink us just because it will most likely occur during a period of hiring regardless. We can't afford to walk around drunk on hiring and give up more jobs because we'd still be hiring.

We need to send a loud and clear message to our reps that we are done selling back jobs. Period. And we need to remind them of that. Constantly.

I was in the Wednesday interview group. We had 9 out of 16 receive the conditional job offer. Of those 9, 3 were from Republic, one was from Expressjet and one was from JetBlue. I know 2 others in the group were military and I'm not certain of the background of the remaining two but I think they were civilian. I'm not sure what happened to the other 7 that weren't given the offers. The Tuesday group had 13 out of 16 get the offer and I saw 15 people in the Thursday group but I haven't heard how they did.

Interview prep is a must!!! I did Emerald Coast and it was worth every dollar!!! I was confident and felt prepared walking in there. The written is tough. Study and practice your intro and responses in front of your friends. We were told to expect a mid February class date.

I would recommend doing Emerald Coast, by far the best prep you can do for the interview. Just do it!!

Duly noted. He asked how contract negotiations would affect hiring. I answered.

There are at least two other places to argue about the contract on this forum. This thread has yet to be polluted; hopefully we can keep it that way.

You're implying my response wasn't relevant, when I specifically pointed out how we approach the contract can easily effect hiring.

We won't go from hiring 100/month to not hiring. No matter what we negotiate we will still keep hiring. But there are things we actually might end up considering that will reduce hiring. I'm against those things. There's more to contract negotiations than pay tables, restoration or a Cadillac a month. Work rules in particular are huge when it comes to hiring.
