Delta Hiring News

AK is still the Manger of Pilot Selection at Delta Air Lines and will be for the next couple of years. Cal Flanigan will be one of the retired Captain doing interviews.
If you do meet the hiring minimums apply NOW even if you think you are not competitive. AirlineApps.com logs the dates of when you apply and when you update. I would suggest updating every month. It will show that you are dedicated about working at Delta.

That may be the case. What I was told by an HR person, was the as far as moving up the pile, 1 letter was all it took. And that more would not increase your score for an interview but would help once you got one.

I would think one letter from a person that's flown with you, and had an opportunity to see your true character, if it's written well enough, is all it would take.
If you have four guys that also met you on the jumpseat, fine. But I certainly would try to cultivate at least one contact that can speak intelligently about you.

I'm trying to figure out all the flow language, when hiring from the streets will likely happen and if I'll regret my decision not to apply to Compass in 2009.
From what I can see reading all the relevant posts:
· Delta to hire 300 pilots through 2014.
· There are 200 Delta pilots on furlough bypass.
· 144 Delta pilots have contacted the company about returning.
· There are 88 Mesaba pilots eligible for flow.
· There are approximately 100 pilots from Compass eligible for flow per year (25% of 400 pilots per year).
· There are 316 compass pilots eligible for flow.
· Pinnacle (Endeavor) is guaranteed 1/3rd of all new hire slots not covered by compass or mesaba not to exceed 12 per month.
· 35% of new hires must come from ALPA carriers.
· Hiring will be about 50 per month.
· The first classes will be filled by the Delta pilots on furlough bypass.
· Compass is guaranteed the first 20 slots per month.
· Mesaba is guaranteed the next 9 slots per month.
So for a class of 50 (non-bypass) 29 are flow, 7 are Pinnacle (21/3) and so that leaves 14 slots for the rest of us including the non ALPA carriers.
So running the numbers if 50 are hired per month it could go like this:
Month 1 - 50 Bypass
Month 2 - 50 Bypass
Month 3 - 44 Bypass, 6 Compass
Month 4 - 20 Compass, 9 Mesaba, 7 Pinnacle, 14 street
Month 5 - 20 Compass, 9 Mesaba, 7 Pinnacle, 14 street
Month 6 - 20 Compass, 9 Mesaba, 7 Pinnacle, 14 street
So it seems there will only be 42 true street hires next year to Delta.
If hiring continues at 50 per month by month 13 (Nov 2014) all Mesaba flows will be complete and by month 39 (Jan 2017) all Compass flows will be complete.
I put everything in a spreadsheet and compared it to the Delta retirement numbers. There are many obvious assumptions in this spreadsheet which I’m not going to list as this is just a quick look to see what the numbers look like.
Now I need to figure out how to be one of the lucky 42 in 2014 without any turbine PIC time let alone space shuttle time

I could be wrong, but I believe that pinnacle only has guaranteed interviews not actual flow (guaranteed jobs)
