Why should any union affiliation color a mans perspective on who gets hired at his company? He should want the best applicant to be hired.

Where did he say he had a problem with Pinnacle guys? The issue is with the manner in which dalpa wasn't invited to sit in on the Pinnacle flying/preferential interview agreement (and if it exists which I doubt, the vault letter).

Flying DAL pax IMO, should carry some weight, but in the case of Comair, it seemingly had the opposite effect.

We only want DAL to hire the best guys. Any employee at any company should want the same. Fwiw, I'm writing 2 letters for pinnacle guys. That is the only sway we have over the hiring process.

I don't have a problem with ALPA guys or Pinnacle guys but I might have a problem with a particular ALPA guy or a particular Pinnacle guy. Its the "automatic" aspect of these agreements that bothers me.

In my opinion, Delta has done a pretty good job hiring pilots over the years. I hate to see them give that up.

^^^^^

It has absolutely nothing to do with ALPA or Pinnacle. We want the company to hire the best....period. Delta does a great job hiring pilots. Let the process work.

Well if it takes Delta to interview 500 pinnacle guys before they hire their first one, then that's what it will be, again WE DO HAVE TO INTERVIEW AND BE HIRED. Don't worry, Pinnacle guys aren't a bunch of mental handicaps walking around the airport with propeller helmets, and the few that are a little anti-social, I'm confident the interview will take care of those guys, and I'm sure there will be some pinnacle guys getting torpedoed by ex-coworkers now working for Delta, 80 knots and the north Mississippi fly club come to mind. , but believe me, I'm all for a fair process to determine who is and who isn't Delta material.

The only thing that's "automatic" with the Pinnacle/Endeavor pilots is getting the interview. Passing the interview isn't automatic. I would think if you have a problem with a particular one, you can express those concerns to HR just like any other street hire. The Delta hiring process will work.

There's a lot of guys applying to DAL. Many are already flying medium or larger guage equipment internationally. Given that DAL are trying to hire the best out there, I wonder how the regional guys are going to compete for positions.

I know guys at Atlas, UPS, Jetblue, Spirit, and SWA who are applying.

WELL SAID!

I'll be blunt: I don't think being an ALPA member should have any weight whatsoever on who gets hired. I also feel that flying for a regional carrier currently affiliated with Delta should have no bearing either.

I find the the attitude of entitlement among some regional pilots because "I'm ALPA" or because "I fly Delta passengers" offensive.

To paraphrase Scambo: I want Delta to hire the best candidates - period. And I want them to compete on an equal footing, without the equivalent of an ALPA national negotiated airline affirmative action program.

With 12,000 applications on flile, the most difficult thing at DAL will be getting an interview. It could take 5+ years to get the call even with a strong resume.

I don't doubt that Delta hasn't done a pretty good job hiring pilots over the years. However Delta didn't hire any of the Compass pilots, any of the Mesaba pilots, any of the NorthWest pilots (or Republic/Hughes) or Western pilots or Pan Am pilots. In the end, what is the difference? I doubt the Delta hiring process is any better than any other airline at weeding out the odd balls.
