From reading this, it seems classes start in November that are filled with 1)bypass returnees, 2)then flows and then 3)a trickle street hires (at first). I would imagine interviewing would start in October, but that is only a guess.

If Delta wants the majority of their new hires off the street, they would simply hire the majority of their pilots after the flows exhausted for the year. i.e. hire 30 a month for the first 6 months of the year, 200 per month for the last six months.

I find the the attitude of entitlement among some regional pilots because "I'm ALPA" or because "I fly Delta passengers" offensive.

To paraphrase Scambo: I want Delta to hire the best candidates - period. And I want them to compete on an equal footing, without the equivalent of an ALPA national negotiated airline affirmative action program.
I'm with you.

Part of your pay raise came from the restructuring of the DCI industry that will ultimately see a lot of regional pilots taking deep pay cuts to fund it. Do you feel entitled to this money, or do you wish to donate it back to DCI?

If you are offended by someone buying a job, there are no industries for you out there that don't have this going on. At least nepotism in this industry is at a minimum. However, if you want this entitlement to end, don't keep voting for new aircraft at the regionals for pay raises.

I'll bluntly disagree with you. Our national union should of had a national seniority list from its' inception. The flows and SSP are the closest we will ever get to it. Pilots are some of the most selfish people I've ever encountered. Thankfully our union works towards helping our collective career advancement. It's not enough IMHO but it's a start. Remember when it's all said and done, if I wait the five plus years for my chance of an SSP (been here 14 years), I will still have a panel interview and tests. Don't expect me to apologize for my union looking out for my best interests.
Entitlement vs reality. NWA/DELTA forced us into ch11 twice now. Stopping "payments", inept management etc. Our only business model is to fly for Delta exclusively. We fly Delta passengers, that isn't entitlement that is reality. We furnish an equivalent product, with inferior planes, management, logistical support. Just compare the Deltanet setup vs our company website alone. To the average passenger they have no clue that they are on a subcontracted plane. We have sweat equity in this company, don't like that I want a return on my investment, tough luck.

No kidding. Maybe these guys are really Comair pilots in disguise. The world owes them. Delta owes them. The delta pilots owe them.

I think what these guys are saying is this. Since Delta Air Lines owns Endeavor Air and our cheap labor influences Delta Air Lines bottom line. All Delta Air Lines employees benefit with increased profit sharing checks. Why shouldn't we have a slight edge over pilots who have not helped the parent company make money. Why wouldn't we ask for an edge to get on with the parent company we make money for. I don't think that is to much to ask. Delta Airlines Management knows this, hence the SSP deal.

I think it's interesting that this is how delta pilots and mgt treat regionals. It is apparent why dl's product suffers at the regional level. I can see why DCI pilots don't care one way or another about their pax. Not how I'd treat those taking care of my customers.
