No Sir. Just thinking it was a little short-sighted to tell an American pilot he wanted to work for Alaska, but had his application in w/ Southwest and if Spirit called etc etc etc. What if I actually had the power to pull his resume out of the pack at Delta and change his life forever?

I'm from Chicago and had apps in for all the good airlines. First FedEx was my #1 until they stopped hiring, then United/American were my #1s due to having large presence and bases in Chicago. Then Delta called, I interviewed and was hired. I could not have been luckier or happier because I feel like I hit the jackpot with Delta.

Faulting a guy for not having the same priority as yourself is weak sauce. And if a Regional Capt told me that he was holding out for his #1 airline of choice and didn't have other apps in, I would respect his choice, but couldn't help but think that he was setting himself up for failure.

Just my opinion.

Let's see, we're ONLY hearing the side of Herman and how the conversation played out from his words. NOT the entire conversation, nor context. How many times has it EVER been stated in general conversation of "I've applied EVERYWHERE but if I was lucky enough to pick, it would be (insert airline here).

A guy was able to enjoy the privilege of the professional courtesy we call jumpseating. THEN had the balls to not only judge the guy for what he said, but come on a message board and say so.

And as mentioned, never mind JUST his side of the conversation.

Here Herman, why don't you tell this guy the same thing. Maybe you can get his job offer/class date yanked

And AeroCrew, sad that you bought into it was well.

By attitude, do you mean integrity? My hat is off to anyone who chooses not to ***** themselves out to any random mainline airline pilot they happen to be interacting with. And maybe that jump-seater's wife runs HR at United!?

When the People Dept person at B6 called and asked me why I'd applied to JetBlue, I told her "Because you're hiring." She was taken aback a bit and said, "Well, I guess that's honest."

I replied that honesty from me was one thing JetBlue could always count on, and then went on to give some other reasons I was interested in the airline.

I got the interview and later the job.

Though there's something known as TMI, and there's no reason to bleed all over the interview table (or jumpseater, as it were), I think the whole "couch all your answers so as not to reveal any downsides" approach is really over-rated. People can smell BS, and they don't like it.

Assuming he "bled all over the jumpseater".

As opposed to just general conversation ya know...........

It would be stupid not to pursue every opportunity, preposterous to expect a pilot to interview everywhere he could, futile to weep over people that leave one major for another, and not particularly smart to tell anyone of the various opportunities you're pursuing. With a Delta guy, I would have talked about Delta and no one else.

Gentleman, I think you are missing the point. It's not a good idea to aproach a Fed-EX guy and tell him he's got his "stuff in" but he really wants to work for UPS. There's no insult here. I wish the man well. His father took our early out. He'll be just fine...at United.

Well, did he approach YOU? Or were you able to exercise the privilege/professional courtesy of riding on HIS jumpseat? I know.......I know..........It was just a little RJ with a little RJ CA. And certain legacy pilots think it's their god given right to ride on the JS and do what they want.

If the dude said what he said, well, whatever...........

It's HIS career. But I stand by my statement, judging him and coming on the message board to speak of it isn't exactly what I'd call gratitude for the ride.

Just simply thank him, walk off grateful you got were YOU needed to go, and thing to yourself "whatever man.......".

Of course, assuming, it all played out EXACTLY as stated.

Does anybody have any recent experience on how long it takes from being called for an interview to getting an interview, and then how long before starting?
