Start reading at post 106 (warning: lengthy discussion, but extremely enlightening -- the real fun starts at post 127) and I think you'll easily be able to decide if that is where you want to direct your business.

Default How low can you go?

Just curious what experience levels are represented in the recent new hire training classes?

In particular, what are the lowest total times represented? Did the lower time guys/gals have unique qualifications?

Depends on the layover and of course, seniority. Wish you the best.

My experience was positive with ATC. First job fair I went to I was totally unprepared and I felt my money was wasted going. I didn't have my elevator pitch and when I had my 10 minutes of face time, I pretty much just handed my resume over to the recruiter. I had my logbook solid (which I didn't need for the job fair) and resume polished, but my app and presentation skills needed some help.

ATC was recommended by some co-workers with examples of those that had apps in for quite some time with no action but got calls after doing the app review with ATC. $500 seemed like a steep price but there were success stories and those that had used the service seemed happy. I had multiple calls that were over 90 minutes where we went over my app line by line. Verified my job and residence history to make sure there were no gaps and helped call out things like training events and company awards that I hadn't thought of putting on my app. Plus Seth was always responsive via email or text if I had any questions or concerns.

When I attended my next job fair after fixing my app, I felt more confident with my face to face and overall had a way better experience which I attribute in part to ATC's help. I did have a small error that led to a fix it email that I thought should've been caught but I also blame myself for not catching it before my app was reviewed. I have spent another $300 on cog test help from RST and $300 on EC for HR prep. Not to mention hotels for the seminars and my interview suit. For me it will all be worth it if I get the job offer and I will get an ROI in the first couple months with retirement contributions alone. I look at any money spent as an investment in my dream job.

I guess everyone needs to decide for themselves if the money is worth it. For me to get on the front end of the massive hiring wave going on right now is worth every dime. There will be those that moan that job fairs are a racket and all these prep courses are a scam. I applaud them for standing on their principles and if they don't need them to get the nod, more power to them.

For those who recently got the interview invite can you share what you've done up to this point with your application? how long ago did you apply? was it crickets and then one day of the blue you go the email? did you go to Job fairs? Civilian or Military? just trying to gauge the process going into the fall.

Thank you!

My app was in for just over a year (military retiree, then flying for a 121 regional during that time) before I received an interview invite.

It was 6 weeks to the day between the email my "sponsor" sent to the hiring board recommending me (and thereby scoring the application) until the email invitation to Atlanta.

Did not visit Delta at a job fair during that time.

Applied at the end of January. Updated with my ATP in March. I got my 10 minutes of face time at the WAI job fair in March. I don't feel like it went particularly well, but not bad either. I've updated my app about once per month. 5 recs from Delta pilots. 3,200 TT, w/1600 TPIC, IP/EP. Majority of my time is Military. I had not heard a peep from DAL until I got the invite email on 5 Aug, interviewing 7 Sep.

Good luck!
