I took 7 years to get a degree and it was specifically talked about during my interview at DAL. HR kept mentioning that it was not DAL standard and I just told my story of college, flying AND having to work the entire seven years including summers to support myself and work towards my goals and get this opportunity today. Flashy? Nope but it was simply the truth. Almost 10 years later I still feel extremely fortunate. I had no hopes of landing the Job at Delta (did not fit the mold) and was shocked to be one of two that made it from the interview group!

And for all the hype about "college grads make a million more...blah blah blah" average means nothing in most cases, as the specific degree either adds significant value or it doesn't. The average is brought up by all the engineers, surgeons, 7 figure lawyers, 8-9 figure CEO's, etc. Just a few of those types can really skew the stats for large numbers of the part time baristas with double majors and crushing debt.
And just for fun, take that same 6 figure and put it into a typical investment vehicle (even a semi-conservative one). Most degrees can never, ever, come close to beating that in the long run.
Education and college aren't necessarily the same thing.

Being easy or not isn't the point. Spending 6 figures on degrees that produce almost zero additional ROI is the biggest scam of our generation(s).

So at what point are we going to start looking at those who didn't blow 50-100k as the "smart ones" and hire them over the dummies that blew the money for a good old classic indoctrination

The most ironic degrees are in financing or economics where the kids leave school 100k in debt. What the hell did you learn??

Hopefully no time soon. Sure, there are some small minds who get nothing but an indoctrination out of four years at a prestigious university. I think those folks are a small minority. I have no heart burn with the hiring methodology at the moment.
