Well, it is known that the category will be reduced this fall. It is simply a guess if enough people bid off to avoid displacements. New hires should definitely consider this information when bidding the ER. I think that is probably why the positions are going unfilled. People know that the growth is only temporary.

Even if they don't get displaced, they will be stuck on the bottom, sitting reserve for a very long time, which is why most junior guys bid into the most junior category, rather than a more senior one; to move up off reserve ASAP.

Again, you didn't "lose" anything. You now have free DPMA, which I have to pay into, you have 270/yr to use EVERY year AND you have up to 24 mos of coverage. The only thing you "lost" was the ability to call in sick your last 2200 hrs before you retire. I'm glad the company changed it up, obviously they had a reason and the amount of pmnwa guys flying sick for years to accumulate thousands of hours of sick leave and then go out in long term sick the last Couple of years ruined it for everyone.
Cheers

Except for the fact that a very large percentage of them just got their asses kicked for the last decade in the regionals. Moving to the ER will seem like they just checked out of the Super eight and into the Ritz.
