I have no idea how you guys do all those red eyes!!!

Disclaimer...... I was so beat after that friggin flight I can't imagine any correlation with that and morningwood. Just sayin'. Maybe you boys are tougher than me!

There's plenty of sleep going on on our flights. The CEO all cuddled up in his bed while we are nodding off up front! I'll take nodding off up front over 23B on a 737 in the middle of the night any day of the week!!!!

Does anyone know if it is advisable to continue updating the airline apps application after receiving a CJO? Follow-up question.... There is some chatter on the "Hiring News" thread that talks about an unwritten interview requirement to have a first class medical that is less than 6 months old (ability to exercise first class privileges). Anyone know if we need to have first class privileges when showing up to class or if we'll be good with a medical that is in months 6-12?

Have a 1st class medical all the way thru training. You will get a type ride (capt's check ride). Then, if you are younger than 40, I believe you are allowed to let it lapse to a 2nd class for domestic operations. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Under 40 a 1st class is good for 12 months. Over, then get one every 6 months.

Why is a first class required through the type ride? Is that just a Delta specific policy or is there an FAR I'm forgetting?

This is what is confusing me....it seems like four or so years ago they changed 61.23(d) to allow you to exercise first class privileges for 12 months for those under the age of 40. Does that extend the duration of the first class medical, or just extend the privileges? It seems that there are several interpretations here. I know at my current airline, if you are under 40, it's good for 12 months, end of story, regardless of type rides, ratings, etc.

Under 40, first class medical is valid for 12 mos.

I don't recall any FAR even requiring a medical certificate for a type ride, but maybe it's buried somewhere in FAR 121?

Just spend the $100. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish!
