Quote: While we're trying to interpolate the ER's future by focusing on the seasonal 25% swing, that's completely irrelevant. The only thing that will drive displacements or not is the super double secret ER/75 retirement plan. There's really no straight answer to that right now. Depending on who you ask (and what hour of which day you ask them) the ER fleet is being extended with dramatically slower retirements, or we're fixin' to cull a mass quantity of 75's in a 2 year period. That makes a huge difference in the company's decision to displace or not, which is always a tough one during a period of hiring and transitioning at a relatively rapid rate (not to mention possibly a little *gasp* growth?!?!?!)

You just can't get a srtaight answer out of anyone on this subject. And even if you do, it'll change in a week anyway. In the company's defense, they probably don't know either and are simply enjoying the "flexibility" they have with a very good and capabile, "paid for" fleet type with lower capex as they surgically analyze each and every flight it does with incoming newer AC.
I posted the retirement and fleet plan here a month ago. The company has been consistent with that plan for at least the last year. Off the top of my head it was about 70 757 aircraft to be parked. All small motor 767's to be parked. The fab 4 domestics will remain and 3 ER's will be converted to domestic interiors. All ER's will remain in service. The remaining 757's will get new interiors with 199 seats. Retirements will be over the next 3 years. The variable is a possible charter contract. If that comes through then 10 additional 757's will get heavy checks and remain in service. Retirements spaced over 36 months. Remaining aircraft will be retired between 2020 and 2024.

Yes you have, and others have said that as well, in addition to other potential scenarios. Still though, 70 five sevens plus a few others is a huge number. That's almost the entire 739 order. While the 320 fleet in general is getting a refresh, no one seems to know if that will apply to 100% of them or if some of the older ones will still retire soon. And are we really planning on keeping 100% of the MD88s? Its interesting indeed that this year will see about 30 MD90's get the glass (assuming its not delayed any further) but no MD88s. That's not necessarilly the canary in the coal mine by any means, but does seem to point to the company at least agressively keeping their options open to cull 88's and older 320's. Even a flinch in that direction would make the A321 order mostly replacements and no growth.

Its all written on a dry erase board and I get that, but significant displacements could still happen depending on the bowling pins the company is juggling that are still very much in the air. I'm still not ready to embrace the likelyhood of significant actual growth other than the one off 717 up-fleeting within existing network capacity. Long term, however, there isn't a power point anywhere that will convince me we are actually growing until after we've actually grown.

PRIA Check
This question is for any new hires that have already started class:

Once the PRIA check is done (30-45 days after the interview), do they ever go back and do another check shortly before/after your training starts?

The reason I'm asking this is simple. I'm probably not looking at starting class until Sept-October timeframe as a rough guess based on what I've read. In the meantime, I may decide to bid over to another type at my current employer for the last 8-9 months of my employment. If Delta is done looking into my past after the "cleared to train" email comes in, then I don't mind exposing myself to a jeopardy training event. On the other hand, it's not worth the risk of losing the opportunity I now have by throwing myself in a sim if I have a bad day and Delta finds out about it later.

Was anyone asked to update their checkrides, speeding tickets, etc. after the background check was done but before indoc at Delta was over?

Just an observation but haven't you answered your own question? If it's a risk why would you put yourself in that situation for 8 or 9 months when thinking of the rest of your career? Is it worth that much more money? I waited until I was off probation to upgrade to FO from engineer. Why tempt fate? Just sayin'....
